Based on Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland novel, the back story here is that the Queen of Hearts keeps her heart under lock and key to protect the wealth of Wonderland.

Unfortunately, someone has pinched it and it’s the job of you and 4 very familiar characters to try and get it back and win in the process. The original Wonderland story was a surreal one and the imagery here is suitably strange. It’s good though, and packed full of atmosphere.

The game grid is made up of 4 lower value gemstones and 4 more rewarding character symbols. They are the Dormouse, Caterpillar, Cheshire Cat and the Mad Hatter. The Mad Hatter is the most lucrative symbol. Land a cluster of 5 symbols for a payout of 2.5 x your total stake. Create a cluster of 15 or more symbols and you’ll scoop a bumper payout of some 1,000 x your total stake.

Land a winning combination made up of 1 of these 4 symbols and those winning symbols are collected in the associated meter. Fill all 6 positions on the meter during a single spin and set of cascades and you’ll activate that symbol’s feature. Here’s what to expect:

• Cupcake Splat feature: the Dormouse runs across the reels from top to bottom. As he goes, he leaves a trail of cupcake bombs. When these explode, they will remove the symbol and create a symbol drop or transform into a new symbol.
• Smokin’ Phat feature: the Caterpillar blows 1, 2 or 3 trails of smoke diagonally across the game grid. When the smoke clears, symbols will have been removed or transformed into a new symbol.
• Grinning Cat feature: the smiling Cheshire Cat grins which will then either remove the symbols beneath or transform them to a random symbol.
• Mad Hat feature: between 6 and 9 Mad Hatter hats are added to the grid. These hats then spin which in turn removes adjacent symbols to create a new symbol drop or they transform into new symbols. The White Rabbit can also appear at random on any spin to award an Agent feature. If you land more than 1 Agent feature on the same spin, the modifiers play out in the order shown above. Each symbol meter resets on each new spin.

Trigger the Queen’s Heart Free Spin feature by collecting 3 keys during a single spin and set of cascades. You’ll then be awarded single free spin. During that single free spin, the 4 Agent features play out in turn.

Agent of Hearts Review Summary – feature-rich fantasy adventure

The madcap source material is a bit bonkers and the same is true of the Agent of Hearts slot. The design is true to the original story and nicely done. The gameplay impresses, delivering plenty of variety thanks to the cluster pays, cascades, multiple modifiers and random wilds.

The features can all combine if you manage to unlock the keys and trigger an elusive free spin where a 3×2 Mega Wild is in play. However, the bigger wins will come from the top-paying Mad Hatter symbol.

Of the series, Court of Hearts offers a slightly higher RTP rate (96.27% vs 96.25%) and bigger max wins (8,500 x stake vs 5,262.5 x stake).
