Theme: Restless spirits are lingering

The theme here is horror but it’s all rather light-hearted. Think the TV comedy series Ghosts rather than the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

The setting is a room in a grand, dusty old mansion that’s covered in cobwebs. You’ll see candles, statues and assorted ghostly portraits on the wall. Watching over proceedings is the Ghost Father himself.

A violin-heavy soundtrack is a perfect fit for this creepy, Gothic theme. The design in Ghost Father is excellent.

The black reels are set within a wooden-style frame. You’ll see Gothic-style A to J royals alongside five higher paying ghost symbols. The best of these is the ghostly woman with the bright red hair who delivers 100 x stake if you land 5 in a line.

There’s also a blue ghost which can deliver instant wins if you land enough of them in the bonus round. They’re not active during base game play unless the Golden Bet is activated.

The vampire-like Igor Vasilevic is the wild. This substitutes for all the standard symbols when it makes up part of a winning combination. The yellow skull is the scatter. Collect 3 or more these to activate the free spins feature.

Free Spins Feature

Trigger the free spins bonus by landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters symbols on the same spin. You’ll then go on to play 7, 9 or 12 free spins. Look out for special ghost symbols which become active during the free spins. These come with prizes of between 1 and 1,000 x bet attached. Land a wild during the free spins and it collects the values of all the ghosts that are also present on the reels on that spin.

Peter & Sons has delivered a great looking and quirky slot that offers solid max win potential and some really good bonus features.

Pros

This cartoon ghost story is nicely put together. Visually, it’s excellent. Likewise, the superb soundtrack which creates plenty of atmosphere. The setting might be an old-fashioned mansion, but the sound and visuals have a fresh, modern feel.

As for the gameplay. Well, there’s not a huge amount to report in the base game unless you have the Golden Bet active. Ghost Father is all about the bonus rounds where the action can really spring into life. Livening up the free spins are the Boosters and the Ghost Rain prizes which can really get things moving.

The 96.30% RTP is decent enough and there’s a potentially knockout maximum win of 10,000 x stake.

If you like the ghoulish theme or are looking for an entertaining slot come Halloween time, an audience with the rather creepy Ghost Father should appeal.
