Wild Cascade Feature

When you land a win in the base game, the Wild Cascade feature is triggered. All winning symbols are removed from the reels, allowing new ones to drop in from above. This is a very common feature in many of the best slots, but this slot gives it a wild twist.

Instead of filling the positions with just normal symbols, a wild is always added to one of the winning positions. After that, regular symbols fill the remaining gaps. Wild cascades continue until no new wins are formed.

DoubleMax Multiplier Feature

Below the reels, you’ll see a string of cannon balls. These represent your multiplier meter. For each win you create, the multiplier doubles. Multipliers start at 1x, so your first win takes this up to 2x, then 4x, and so on.

Multipliers can double unlimited times, but they do reset after a losing spin or cascade.

Multiplier Jump Feature

On any spin, there is a chance that the multiplier meter can jump by one position. So, for example, if you were at the start on 1x, it could skip 2x and go straight to 4x. This can happen up to 3 times in a row.

Barbarossa DoubleMax Summary – Tamer than the name makes out

As we mentioned earlier, historically Barbarossa was one of the most feared Pirates of his time. We expected, therefore, that this game would be full of action, looting and more. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.

Whilst the Barbarossa DoubleMax slot looks great and offers some interesting features, we found it was hard to claim any big wins. As the game is highly volatile, the multiplier meter can fail to move at all for quite a while. Given this is your best chance at reaching anything near those 20,000 x max wins, we were a little disappointed.

That said, Barbarossa DoubleMax does have moments of genius too. The Wild Cascades feature puts a nice twist on the regular cascading wins mechanism we see all the time. The Free Spins feature can also be lucrative as the multiplier doesn’t reset, though we would have liked more chances to up our free spins count.
