Digging up archaeological treasure is the goal in 3 Elements, a 5 reel, 40 payline slot powered by Odobo. Set against the mighty pyramids and boasting an ancient Egyptian flavour, it comes with plenty of features including re-spins, transforming symbols, super stacked symbols, big multipliers and a pick me feature. Available exclusively at Unibet Casino, head to the desert from between 40p and £40 per spin.
The visuals in 3 Elements are very well put together – against a sandy desert backdrop where the pyramids dominate, the reels include playing card symbols from A to J, a scarab beetle, Egyptian goddess Isis and the dog god Anubis. They’re joined by a bi-plane, a trusty dog and our heroic female archaeologist who goes by the name of Glory.
The latter pays out 2,500 coins if you land 5 in a payline. Playing out as the reels spin is a sweeping orchestral soundtrack that has an epic feel with the occasional Arabian flourish. Very fine it all is too.
There’s plenty on offer on the features front too – look out for the Eye of Horus symbol. When it lands on reel 3, it can swap positions with other symbols and in the process create winning combos. This is known as The Eye feature.
Land 3 broken amulet scatter symbols on the middle 3 reels and you’ll activate the Amulet Bonus feature. If you pick 2 of the same object from the treasure chests, you’ll win a cash prize. Find an amulet and you’ll win the Super Prize.
When 3 or more skull scatter symbols hit anywhere on the reels, you’ll trigger the Respins feature. Before the respins start, the skulls will be turned yellow, green or red – each of which offers a different extra. The yellow glowing skulls can turn into a specific symbol and in the process create or improve a winning combination.
The green glowing skulls are wild, substituting for everything apart from the archaeologist. Each green skull has its own multiplier which increases by 1 on each spin. If you’re playing all 40 paylines, this can reach up to 7x.
The red skulls are also wild, replacing everything bar the archaeologist. If you’re playing all 40 lines, they’ll appear in stacks of 6, greatly improving your chances of landing a fully stacked wild reel. The skulls are frozen in place until they are in play in a successful combination. The respins keep on coming until there are no more skulls left anywhere on the reels.
The features aren’t the easiest to trigger but the base game can still deliver some decent rewards – the variance seems to be on the high side of medium with the best hope excavating buckets full of treasure coming via the bonus features.
3 Elements has a certain sense of mystery about it – if the skulls work their magic, it’s possible to conjure up an impressive haul of loot. If you’re looking for ancient Egyptian-themed slots, you have plenty to choose from with Novomatic’s Book of Ra Deluxe and IGT’s Pharaoh’s Fortune my picks.
