Winter Queen is brought to you by Novomatic and has 5 reels and 40 paylines. Following on from Autumn Queen and Spring Queen, you visit a winter wonderland where you meet the ice queen. Playable from 40p to £60 per spin, it’s available to play on desktop, mobile and tablet devices (like iOS, laptops, PCs and Android).

Set in an icy environment, Winter Queen is typical of what you’d expect from a Novomatic title, visually. Symbols on the reels including playing cards (A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9) as well as kingfishers, husky dogs, polar bears and the Winter Queen herself – the latter 4 appear 3 symbols high on the reels (i.e. can take over a whole reel).

The Winter Queen is the most lucrative high win symbol giving you 12.5 times your stake for 5 across a payline. There is also a wild symbol, the Winter Queen logo, which substitutes for all symbols except the scatter.

The highest value symbol is the scatter, the crystal ball, with 5 of them giving you 25 times your stake for 5 on a payline. If you get 3 or more on any of the reels, you will activate the Free Games + Winter Queen Bonus feature – here, you will begin with 10 free spins.

During the feature, the Winter Queen, polar bear, husky dog and kingfisher can appear in blocks – they can appear on reels 1 through 3, 2 through 4 or 3 through 5. This means they will appear as 3×3 giant symbols. If you were to get a giant 3×4 Winter Queen on reels 2 through 4 as well as a wild on reels 1 and 5, expect huge wins. Finally, 3 more scatters simultaneously on a free spin will give you an additional 10 free spins (taking your tally to 20).

I quite like Winter Queen – the visuals are decent and the bonus feature can be very lucrative if you get wilds on the 2 reels with a giant 3×3 high value symbol on the other 3. I found it be a medium to high variance offering and more appealing than the other Novomatic titles mentioned above.
