Strike It Gold: Win Ways Slot Review

Dig deep and you could find treasure buried down a mine in the Strike It Gold: Win Ways slot, a 6 reel game from Novomatic where the number of ways to win can get as high as 117,649. Look out for reaction wins where winning symbols are removed from the grid and replaced by new ones. The Free Spins feature awards a minimum of 12 free spins. Boosting your winning chances here is an increasing multiplier which increases by 1 with each reaction win. These multipliers don’t reset following a winless free spin either. Strike It Gold: Win Ways Slot RTP, Details & Wager Limits

The Strike It Gold: Win Ways slot is played on a 6 reel machine. The Win Ways mechanic means that the number of symbols on each of those reels changes with each spin. So too does the number of ways you can form a winning combination.

The more symbols, the better the winning chances. If the reels reach their maximum configuration, you’ll have 117,649 ways to win. Before you ask, it doesn’t use the Big Time Gaming’s Megaways engine. To create a win, you need to land 3 or more matching symbols or wilds on adjoining reels, starting from the leftmost reel.

You can go digging for gold here at stake levels of between 40p and £10 per spin. There’s an Autoplay function which may not be available in your country.

The Strike it Gold: Win Ways RTP is 96.07% which is average but higher than most other Novomatic slots (normally between 95 and 95.5%). The volatility here is in the medium range with balanced wins throughout the base game and main feature. There’s a hit frequency of 37.94% meaning over a third of spins will result in a win. The max payout though is 12,500 x your total stake per spin.

Theme – Audio and Design Features – head to a goldmine

The design in the Strike It Gold: Win Ways slot is nicely done for a Novomatic-powered game. With a mining theme, the setting is the opening to a mineshaft. Flanked by boxes of dynamite and lamps, the reels are set within a wooden frame.

The twangy soundtrack chugs along nicely and is part Johnny Cash, part Sergio Leone Spaghetti Western. It’s catchy enough and fits this theme rather well. I’ve no complaints about the design here.

On the reels you’ll find A to 9 royals and an assortment of higher value gemstone symbols. The best of these is the white diamond which pays 50 x your total stake for a 6-symbol combination. The barrel of gunpowder is the wild. This substitutes for everything apart from the scatter when it makes up part of a winning combination.

You can try and detonate a jackpot whether you’re playing on a desktop, tablet or mobile device. The design stands up well if you’re playing on a device with a smaller screen. The no-frills gameplay is also well suited to mobile play.

Strike It Gold: Win Ways Bonus Features

The range of extras in Strike It Gold: Win Ways is rather limited. There’s the Win Ways mechanic which keeps things ticking over of course but as far as bonus features go, there are 3. With reactions, it’s all about the free spins with increasing win multiplier.

Reactions feature

When you get a winning combination, the Reactions feature comes into play. Then, a ‘reaction’ occurs. Those successful symbols are removed from the grid and new symbols drop in and replace them. A new payout consideration then follows. If a new winner is formed, the process is repeated. The ‘reactions’ continue until no new winning combination is created.

Free Spins feature

To trigger the Free Spins feature, you’ll need to land 4 or more scatter symbols anywhere on the reels on the same spin. Land the minimum 4 scatters and you’ll play 12 free spins. A further 5 free spins are awarded for each addition scatter that lands on the triggering spin. Triggering it with 6 scatters for example would set you off with 22 free spins for example.

The ‘reactions’ mechanic is in play during the free spins, just like in the base game. Land a winner and the successful symbols are removed and new symbols replace them. The difference here is that each reaction increases a win multiplier by 1. This is known as the Increasing Win Multiplier feature.

An unsuccessful free spin doesn’t reset the multiplier either. The win multiplier remains the same or rises throughout the feature, with no limits. Land 3 or 4 scatter symbols in the top window above the reels and you’ll get a retrigger with another 5 or 10 free spins added to your total. Again, there are no limits to how many extra free spins you can win.

Strike It Gold: Win Ways Review Summary – I cannot believe this isn’t Megaways

Despite its dynamite theme, the Strike It Gold: Win Ways slot is actually a simple game. Developer Novomatic has no agreement with Big Time Gaming which is odd as it’s basically Megaways in disguise. However, that isn’t a good thing as it doesn’t have the embellishments of similar slots like mystery transforming symbols and other goodies

If you compare this game to Bonanza Megaways, it doesn’t come close in many respects. The RTP is slightly higher yes (96.07% vs 96%) but the look and feel is watered down in my opinion. The toe-tapping soundtrack had me humming along but the gameplay is a little on the vanilla side.

Strike It Gold: Win Ways is an odd one as sister company Stakelogic have a Megaways license. Maybe Novomatic are looking for payback on countless other providers ripping off Book of Ra Deluxe (with free spins and a special expanding symbol).

If you want a proper mining experience, Bonanza cannot be beaten in my view. Another good option is Fire in the Hole from Nolimit City which offers up to 46,656 ways to win and 60,000 x stake max wins.
