Red Lady is a Novomatic-powered video slot with 5 reels and 10 paylines. Playable across desktop, mobile and tablet devices, you can play from as little as 10p a spin to as much as £50 a spin. The game is based on the ancient pirate legend that is Veronica (known and feared as the Red Lady) who swings her sword in order to loot the treasures of the 7 seas.
With an obvious pirate theme, you will see Veronica herself, parrots, pirate ships, guns and golden compasses on the reels – it uses the standard Novomatic soundtrack which you either love or hate (I quite like it). The most valuable symbol is the compass which will reward you with 2,000 times your line bet if you get 5 on a payline.
One thing to mention is that wins need to begin on the first reel on the left with 3 consecutive symbols (that are the same) giving you wins.
Red Lady is all about the Free Games feature which is triggered when you get 3 or more Golden compass scatter symbols – this gives you 10 free spins with a special expanding symbol. Before the feature begins, a symbol is randomly chosen – when this symbol appears on the reels, it will expand to cover the whole reel.
If you manage to get a few of these symbols on a particular free spin, prepare yourself for huge wins. If you manage to get a high value symbol, wins will be even bigger! The bonus feature is identical to the one found in other Novomatic titles like Lord of the Ocean and Book of Ra Deluxe.
I found Red Lady to be a high variance slot game with the big wins coming in the free spins feature – especially if you get a high value symbol as the special expanding symbol. Be warned though – triggering the feature won’t be easy and you need to prepare yourself for dry spells. If you like the pirate theme, Red Flag Fleet from WMS Gaming is highly recommended.
