Rainbow Reels is a Novomatic-powered slot game with 5 reels and 20 paylines. In terms of symbols, the most important one in the base game is the Wild leprechaun/troll which will reward you with 500 times your stake if you manage to find 5 on a payline. Rainbow Reels doesn’t use the iconic (and somewhat annoying) soundtrack found in other Novomatic slot games. On to the features now…
Firstly, you have the Over the Rainbow Bonus feature which is triggered by getting 3 or more Rainbow bonus scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. You then pick 4-leaf clovers to reveal cash prizes – you will carry on picking until you reveal or collect or win the maximum prize – 500 times your stake.
Then you have the Pot of Wealth Bonus feature which is played when you get 3 Pots of Wealth scatter symbols anywhere on reels 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously. You then get to pick a pot to reveal your cash prize of up to 500 times your stake.
Finally, you have the Wishing Well Bonus feature which is played when you get 3 or more Wishing Well scatter symbols anywhere on the reels – similar to the previous feature, you pick a wishing well which, again, can reward you with up to 500 times your bet.
Rainbow Reels is a medium variance game with decent payouts – I found the bigger wins came in the Over the Rainbow feature but all 3 have the same maximum prize available. How does it compare to other Irish luck-themed games? Well, it’s almost identical in gameplay to Rainbow Riches so it can’t be bad. Saying that, I prefer other Novomatic titles like Pharaoh’s Ring and Mystic Secrets which have excellent free spins features.
