Venture deep into the jungle and try and make off with some of Monkey’s Millions. Available on desktop, tablet and mobile, this 5 reel, 20 payline slot from Novomatic comes with a trio of extras including a pick’em round, multiplier bonus prizes and a free spins feature. You’ll also have a chance to swing away with a progressive jackpot prize. Stakes range from between 20p and £40 per spin.

We’re sometimes a little unkind about the look and sound of Novomatic slots but we have few causes to grumble here – the visuals are rather nicely done. The A to 10 playing card symbols are shaped out of bamboo. They’re joined by the Monkey’s Millions logo which awards up to 12.5 times your total stake as well as a wild which pays up to 25 times your bet.

The wild substitutes for everything apart from the quartet of bonus symbols. Watch out too for the cheeky monkey who can jump onto the reels. After splatting a banana, he’ll award a mystery coin prize. It won’t usually be much but can help things tick over in the base game. Now on to the features:

Land 3 of the Jungle Spins logo anywhere on reels 2, 3 and 4 on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Jungle Spins Bonus feature – here you’ll be awarded 5 free spins. The maximum 5-of-a-kind prizes increase here too with awards of up to 500 times your stake possible. Land 5 gold bananas on a payline and you’ll trigger the progressive jackpot.

3, 4 or 5 parrot scatters anywhere on the reels triggers the Pick a Parrot Bonus feature. Just pick a parrot and you’ll win a multiplier prize that can be anything up to 500 times your total stake.

3 or more monkey scatters triggers the Monkey Bonus feature which is played on a new 3-reel machine. Fill rows with matching symbols to land multiplier prizes of up to 500 times your stake. The reels keep spinning until you land 3 rotten bananas – however, you can land the progressive jackpot here if you find 3 golden bananas.

Monkey Million’s is something of a departure from Novomatic’s usual fruit machine offerings. The visuals are better than usual and the rhythmical backing track, complete with gibbering monkey yelps is a big improvement on the norm.

The features aren’t bad either when you manage to trigger them. The Pick a Parrot Bonus feature left us pretty underwhelmed when we did land it though. There are some sweet treats hidden here but they take a little finding. The overall variance is in the medium range.

This is a decent effort from Novomatic – with better than average design and more features than usual, Monkey’s Millions is worth a look if you like the animal theme. Alternatively, Microgaming’s Tarzan is superb and has plenty of animals (including monkeys).
