King’s Jester is a progressive jackpot slot from Novomatic with 5 reels and 10 paylines. Playable from 10p to £50 a spin across all devices (including iOS and Android), it is based on royal society with the likeable jester to key to winning big – there are also free spins on offer.

When it comes to graphics and animations, King’s Jester is rather simple and looks like a land based offering (which it is originally). Symbols on the reels include the king, queen, a deck or cards, jesters and banjos. The highest value symbol is the jester which will reward you with 5,002 times your line bet when you get 5 on a payline. The 2x jester symbol doubles your winning total to 10,004 times your line stake when you see 5 on a payline.

Look out for the bell scatter symbol as 3 or more will trigger the Free Games feature and reward you with 15 free spins – again, the jester symbol substitutes for all symbols except the scatter and multiplies your win by 2. You can also trigger a further 15 free spins (taking your total to 30) if you get 3 or more bells anywhere on the reels. To help you on your merry way, the middle reel (reel 3) only contains jester and scatter symbols.

Then you have the Jackpot feature which is triggered when you get 5 Jester symbols on a payline (in the base game) – this will reward you with 50% of the progressive jackpot amount. In the Free Games feature, 5 2x Jester symbols will trigger the full progressive jackpot amount. The full jackpot can only be won if playing at maximum stakes – any lower (which I play at) will accordingly lower the jackpots.

King’s Jester is a decent game with the variance being something in the middle – I have found my biggest wins in the Free Games feature when I’ve managed to get the 2x Jester symbol as part of a winning combination. It’s not the best slot game by Novomatic by any stretch of the imagination but a decent addition to their portfolio. Saying that, I do prefer more volatile action with Golden Cobras Deluxe and Golden Ark being good choices.
