If you like high risk, high reward action then slots don’t come much more volatile than Kingdom of Legends. Created by Novomatic, this 5 reel, medieval game comes with scatter payouts and a bonus feature that awards 10 free spins. You’ll also have a shot a landing a bumper jackpot prize in that bonus feature too. Stakes range from between 10p and £50 per spin.
The reels are set against snow-capped mountains and the king’s castle and include Novomatic’s usual symbol offerings. You’ll see lower value playing cards zipping around the reels alongside pouches filled with jewels, chests overflowing with treasure and the king and his good lady. There’s nothing flashy about the visuals here, likewise Novomatic’s standard bang and bleeps soundtrack.
The gameplay is a little different for a Novomatic game in that winning combinations are made scatter style rather than via the usual paylines. Landing 5 or more symbols (4 or more in the case of the king) will get you a winner.
What you’ll really be hoping to see though is the crown which is the game’s scatter – land 3, 4 or 5 of these on the same spin and you can look forward to a payout equal to 10, 30 or 300 times your stake. More importantly, you’ll also trigger the Free Games feature. Here you’ll be awarded 10 free spins. Before they begin, 1 symbol is selected at random. Whenever this special symbol hits, it will be locked in place.
The scatter pays engine is in play during the free spins too. As long as there are enough locked symbols in play for a winner, a payout is made with each free spin. The more matching symbols added, the bigger that payout on each free spin becomes. The aim is the fill the whole screen with the same matching symbol – manage that and you’ll win the associated jackpot prize.
As we mentioned at the outset, Kingdom of Legends (which incidentally, shouldn’t be confused with Kingdom of Legend) isn’t for the faint of heart. This a super volatile game, even by Novomatic standards. Lengthy winless runs are a given. Land a high value sticky symbol when you trigger the free spins then watch out. There’s some massive potential there.
Kingdom of Legends doesn’t offer much in the way of design and the range of extras is limited. If you like your slots action to come with plenty of risk but rewards that are potentially fit for a king then Kingdom of Legends should definitely appeal. If you like volatile, medieval themed games, WMS’ Black Knight II should be considered.
Wild Bounty is a very simple slot from Novomatic – the bigger wins will come in the Free Games feature where the 3 middle reels spin the same results for big wins hopefully. It’s not the best game Novomatic has released but the lure of the progressive jackpots is appealing. However, I would much rather play the volatile Dead or Alive from NetEnt which has a similar theme (and much better graphics/bonus features).
