He’s been a private detective with a talking car, saved hapless Californian swimmers, topped the singing charts in Germany and now David Hasselhoff has his own slot. Powered by Austrian developer Novomatic, Hoffmania a 5 reel, All Pay game that comes with a free spins feature with an expanding multiplier that can boost payouts by up to 5x. Playable on all devices, stakes range from between 20p and £50 per spin.
The visuals in Hoffmania come with a big dollop of cheese. Joining the A to 10 playing cards are a signed photo and a pair of models. The grinning Hoffmeister himself is the top paying standard symbol – land 3, 4 or 5 of these in combination and you’ll receive a payout equal to 2, 20 or 40 times your total stake. The Hoffmania logo is the game’s wild – it replaces all other symbols apart from the scatter and can land anywhere on all five of the reels.
The other symbol to look out for is the Oscar-style statue (which feature’s the Hoff’s face of course) which is the scatter. Land 3 or more of these anywhere on the reels on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Free Games with a Hoffmania feature and with it, 5 free spins.
Every time a scatter lands during the feature, 1or 2 extras will be awarded. Either your tally of free spins will increase by 1 or 2 or a multiplier will increase by 1, up to a maximum of 5x.
This isn’t the most volatile slot you’ll come across from the Novomatic stable – the variance is in the medium range. The base game can be a little pedestrian at times but the action picks up nicely in the bonus round thanks to the extra free spins on offer and the increasing multiplier.
The design isn’t the flashiest you’ll see either – you’ll hear some very corny comments from the Hoff himself hidden among Novomatic’s usual bang and bleep style backing track. If you can see past the corny design, there’s a decent game on offer here, especially in the free spins round where the extra goodies can deliver some tidy action. If you like branded titles, iSoftBet’s 24 and Playtech’s Man of Steel are worth playing.
