Bat Stax Theme/Symbols

To look at, the Bat Stax slot is rather good for a Novomatic game – with a haunted theme, the creepy soundtrack is the first thing you’ll notice. Set against a misty graveyard, symbols include A, K, Q, J and 10 royals – you’ll also see spiders, fierce cats and owls. The latter pays 0.25, 1.5, 5 or 25 times your stake for 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination.

The witch’s hat is the wild symbol and substitutes for all symbols bar the pumpkin scatter and the bat (more on this below) – it’s by far the most rewarding symbol with 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination giving you 0.25, 2, 20 or 50 times your stake. You form winning combinations by getting matching symbols from left to right starting from reel 1.

Overlaid special expanding symbol

The bat symbol is the overlaid special expanding symbol – appearing on all 5 reels, 2, 3, 4 or 5 of them in combination will give you 0.1, 0.25, 0.5 or 5 times your stake. If you get 3 or more bat symbols, they will expand to take over the whole reel and most to the left-most reels – if you got 3 bat symbols on reels 2, 4 and 5, they will expand and take over reels 1, 2 and 3. If you fill all 5 reels with bats, you’ll win 100 times your stake.

Free Games feature

The main attraction from the Bat Stax slot is the Free Games feature – this is played when you get 3, 4 or 5 pumpkin scatter symbols anywhere on the reels. As well as a prize of 2, 10 or 25 times your stake, you’ll get 10, 15 or 25 free spins respectively.

During the feature, 2 or more Bat symbols will expand and fill reels 1 and 2 – a free re-spin will then follow with the other reels re-spinning. More bats landing will see more fully bat reels. The re-spins stop when no more new bats appear. Furthermore, you can retrigger the feature by getting 3, 4 or 5 pumpkins – to reward you with 10, 15 or 25 additional free spins.

Bat Stax slot verdict

I quite like Bat Stax as it’s well designed – the overlaid Bat symbols can result in wins of up to 100 times your stake. However, the bigger wins will come from the witch’s hat wild as filling the reels with wilds will result in a 1,000 times stake payout. Medium variance, Bat Stax is a decent slot to play at Halloween.

If you want something terrifying with bigger win potential, NetEnt’s Halloween Jack slot would be my recommendation as you can win 3,000 times your stake on every spin.
