Starmania is a 5 reel, 10 payline video slot powered by NextGen Gaming. Playable from 10p to £20 a spin, it has a cosmic feel to it with vibrant coloured stars sparking on the reels. It’s a win both ways slot which helps and feels a little like NetEnt’s Starburst.

The game is quite simple in terms of gameplay and it has ambient background music that will make you want to go to sleep. However, the main focus of the game is the Free Games feature which is triggered when you get 3 or more Bonus scatter symbols on any of the reels.

You will then receive 10 free spins. However, what makes this feature interesting is the fact that 30 extra stacked wilds are added to the 3 middle reels (reels 2, 3 and 4) during the feature. On top of this, the feature can be retriggered giving you up to 20 free spins.

You will notice in the feature that the win animations and sounds will be more upbeat creating more excitement. That’s about it though as the potential for big wins is the same in the base game than it is in the feature. The maximum to be won is 4,600 times your stake which is pretty impressive.

Starmania is a well-balanced medium variance slot game. As mentioned, it’s similar in style to NetEnt’s Starburst. It’s not my favourite NextGen Gaming slot but a welcome addition to their ever-growing portfolio. I prefer more volatile titles like 300 Shields and Medusa to be honest.
