Enter a medieval kingdom where mythical beasts wander the realm in Dragon Drop, a 5 reel, 25 payline video slot from NextGen Gaming. This fantasy themed slot comes with sticky wilds and a free spins feature where all wins are doubled. Stakes range from 25p up to £50 per spin.
Dragon Drop has a light-hearted feel. Images include sheep, a fork wielding knight, a castle and a chest full of gold coins. The latter is the symbol to hope for as it will deliver payouts of 5,000 times your line bet if you manage to find 5 in a payline.
You’ll also notice a trio of dragons perched above reels 2, 3 and 4. They can drop down at random and create a wild symbol which substitutes for everything apart from the scatter. All winning paylines that include the dragon are subject to a 2x multiplier and doubled.
Find 3 or more scattered eggs anywhere on the reels and you’ll trigger the Sticky Dragon feature and be awarded 8 free spins – all wins made during the free games will be doubled. Look out too for the dropping dragons which also appear during the feature.
Any Dragon that does drop during the feature will remain in place as a wild for the remainder of the free spins. Get multiple dragons on the reels simultaneously and the coins can mount up pretty quickly. You can win up to 1,844 times your stake in the feature which is huge. The only downside here is that the free spins cannot be re-triggered.
Visually Dragon Drop is pretty good. The cartoon style imagery is well done, perfectly clear and sharp against the white reels and rural backdrop. It’s matched by a jaunty soundtrack that doesn’t immediately suggest dragons but is catchy all the same.
The features aren’t extensive in Dragon Drop but the free spins can certainly be lucrative if you manage to get multiple sticky wilds early on in the proceedings – the overall variance is somewhere in the middle. It’s unlikely you’ll break the bank playing Dragon Drop but the cutesy graphics, smooth gameplay and decent free spins round with double wins and sticky wilds make it well worth a look.
Dragon Drop is often overlooked but isn’t a bad game to be fair. If you like dragons though, 50 Dragons by Aristocrat is a land based classic. You also have Viking Vanguard by WMS which is my favourite slot containing a dragon and is a highly volatile beast.
