Superstars Bonus Features

The Superstars slot comes with a whopping 17 bonus features. It all focuses on the Bonus Game feature where the reels reveal cash prizes and Dice. Bonus Game feature

The Bonus Game feature is triggered by landing 3 or more Diamond Scatter symbols anywhere on the reels on a base game spin. This will cost you 150 x your total bet. However, it’s not available in the UK.

Triggering scatters transform into random prizes and remain in position on the reels. Prizes range from 1 to 25 x your total bet. With 3 free spins awarded, you will see a board game surrounding the reels. Every position on the reels spins individually with the locked positions not spinning. On the reels, only random prizes (up to 25 x bet) and Dice symbols can appear. These remain in position until the end of the feature or if the Finn feature is activated.

When a random bet multiplier prize appears, the position becomes locked and the number of free spins resets back to 3. The number of free spins will reset to 4 if you trigger the Extra Spins feature. When a Dice symbol lands, you are awarded 1 dice that is collected to the dice counter. Multiple dice on the dice counter will see a dice rolled 1 at a time before the free spin.

If all positions on the reel are filled, the Final Game feature commences. The squares on the board game are assigned prizes of 25, 50, 75, 100, 500 or 1,000 x your total bet. Only 2 squares will be left which then award dice if a token lands on them.

You then roll the dice and move the token on the board game, collecting prizes or dice. The initial number of dice rolls in the feature is determined by the number of dice left, the maximum number of free spins and number of Extra Life hearts left in the Bonus Game feature. If the Replay feature is activated in the Wheel Game and not used in the Bonus Game feature will double the initial number of dice to roll.

Superstars Review Summary – ‘all-star’ slot doesn’t do the party guests’ reputations justice

The Superstars slot is a great game if you’re a fan of NetEnt slots and the slots that the characters come from.  This ‘all-star’ title cleverly brings popular character together on 1 platform. I’m sure the team at NetEnt have enjoyed creating this due to the nostalgia of reliving past successes. Other providers have used characters from previous slots but not as blatantly as NetEnt though.

The base game is pretty ordinary with max wins of 225 x bet per spin. It’s all about the Bonus Game feature where you will land random cash prizes and Dice. The Dice are key to triggering the various character features from the board game encasing the reels.

I quite like the Gonzo feature which applies a multiplier of up to 5x to up to 24 random prizes. The Space Wars feature rewards you with respins with the highest value prizes. Landing the token on a Wheel square will bring various features into play with the 2 Dice feature my personal favourite. That said, filling all positions on the reels will activate the Final Game feature where bigger cash prizes up to 1,000 x bet will appear on the board game.

Despite all the various features and possibilities in the Bonus Game feature, it feels a little repetitive and not that exciting. If you take the Dead Rider’s Trail slot from Relax Gaming, there’s so much more going in the Bonus Trail feature. With cash prizes present, there are so many modifiers which can really propel your wins to the next level, up to 50,000 x bet.

Offering 4,596 x bet max wins, the Superstars slot would have been a lot more appealing if the max win potential was significantly higher. If you take Gonzo’s Quest for example (with Gonzo appearing in this game), the max win on offer is 37,500 x bet. In summary, Superstars feels like a celebration of some of NetEnt’s popular titles with no real substance or direction.
