Graphically, Pirate from the East is quite simple compared to other NetEnt slots like Planet of the Apes or Dead or Alive II. Set on a pirate ship, you’ll hear the waves crashing against the ship. Symbols include A, K, Q, J and 10 royals – you’ll also see Japanese sake, compasses, pistols and knives, pirate ships and treasure chests full of gold. The latter is the most rewarding symbol with 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination giving you 0.33, 1.66, 20 or 133.33 times your stake.
The most important symbol is the wild – the male pirate. As well as substituting for all symbols bar the scatter, it will give you a 3x multiplier when part of a winning combination. If you were to get 4 treasure chests full of gold as well as a wild on a payline, you’d win 400 times your stake (133.33 times your stake times 3).
The female pirate is the scatter symbol – 2, 3, 4 or 5 will reward you with 2, 4, 15 or 100 times your stake. 3 or more will trigger the Free Spins feature with each scatter giving you a free spin and multiplier combination. You then make a choice – the maximum number of free spins is 28 and the biggest multiplier you can get is 6x. Every scatter symbol appearing during the feature will give you 1 additional free spin.
Pirate from the East is actually a remake of NetEnt’s classic Piggy Riches slot – which is a good thing as Piggy Riches is very popular. Highly volatile, you can win up to 2,400 times your stake on each free spin. Overall, Pirate from the East is a good slot but NetEnt have produced better – namely Dead or Alive 2.
