Theme: unlock Pandora’s Box
Theme: Greek Mythology
High-Value Symbol: Flaming Cauldron
Compatibility: Mobile, Tablet, Desktop
As you’d expect from a game with an ancient Greek mythology theme, there’s plenty of marble and gold on display in the Pandora’s Treasure slot. With giant statues of Pandora in the background and to the side, the reels here are flanked by a pair of mighty marble columns and edged in gold.
Complementing the impressive visuals is a sweeping orchestral soundtrack, complete with wailing vocals that transport players back in the land of the ancients. This is a slot that has plenty of atmosphere.
The reels are made up of A to 10 royals and 4 higher-value symbols related to the myth and legend theme. There’s a golden laurel wreath-style crown, golden hands, a book and a flaming cauldron. The flaming cauldron is the best-paying symbol. Land 6 of these in combination for a payout equal to 8 x your total bet.
There’s also Pandora’s Box symbol which can award bonus cash prizes as well as a Golden Key Scatter symbol. Land 3 or more of these to trigger the Free Spins feature. Here’s how the Paytable stacks up:

Pandora’s Treasure Mobile
Pandora’s Treasure has been fully optimised for play on tablets and smartphones as well as desktop and laptop computers. The impressive visuals and simple gameplay make the Pandora’s Treasure mobile version a good one if you want to play on the go.
Pandora’s Treasure Bonus Features
The gameplay in Pandora’s Treasure is straightforward but there are a couple of extras that are well worth noting. Pandora’s Box collects symbols and then turns them into cash prizes. There’s also a free spin bonus where again, Pandora’s Box can work its magic.
Pandora’s Box feature
The Pandora’s Box feature triggers when the Pandora’s Box symbol lands in the base game. A symbol avalanche is awarded. The successful symbols are removed from the reels and new symbols drop in to replace them. A new payout calculation is then made with the new symbols in place. If another winning combination is formed, the process is repeated and another Avalanche follows. These keep on coming until there’s one where no new winner lands.
Additionally, each symbol from each avalanche win is added to Pandora’s Box. For example, if a winning combination is made up of 5 symbols, 5 are added to the Box.
When you’ve run out of Avalanches, a special prize is awarded. The prize is equal to the total number of symbols contained in Pandora’s Box and then applied to your total bet. For example, say Pandora’s Box contained 10 symbols. You’d win a prize of 10 x your total bet. This comes on top of the standard symbol wins.
Free Spins feature
Trigger the Free Spins feature by landing 3 Golden Key scatters on the same spin. You’ll then receive 10 free spins. A further 2 free spins are awarded for every additional scatter that lands on the triggering spin.
At the start of the free spins, 1 Pandora’s Box symbol is added to the reels, collecting symbols from your wins throughout the feature.
Land 3 scatters during the round for a retrigger. Another 5 free spins are awarded (with 2 more free spins for each extra scatter). Pandora’s Box duplicates and is added to a random position on the reels. It’s possible to land 2 retriggers which means 3 Pandora’s Box symbols.
When you’ve used up all your free spins, the collected symbols in Pandora’s Box (or better still, Boxes) and added together and then multiplied by your total bet to give a final prize. Again, these come on top of the standard symbol wins.
In some jurisdictions, players will have the chance to use the Buy feature. This allows you to buy your way into the Free Spins feature for a fee of 50 x bet. This isn’t available to players in the UK.
Pandora’s Treasure Verdict: surprisingly, Pandora’s Box is not the key to winning big
There’s plenty to like about this trip back to the land of the ancients. The sound and visuals in the Pandora’s Treasure slot are well put together and even though the gameplay is simple, it still has the potential to deliver some impressive action.
Get on a roll with the avalanches and the Pandora’s Box feature can really motor. That’s especially true of the Free Spins feature. Get a retrigger or 2 and the extra free spins and more importantly, the extra Pandora’s Boxes can work plenty of magic.
The volatility here is in the medium range which offers a balance between payout size and frequency. The RTP of 96.09% is about average and the Pandora’s Treasure max win of 10,368 x bet stacks up rather well. It seems like you need to land the higher-value flaming cauldron symbol on plenty of positions to achieve close to the max win as I highly doubt you’ll collect 10,368 winning symbols during the free spins.
Other Greek-mythology slots
If you like ancient Greek mythology-inspired slots and simple gameplay, Pandora’s Treasure could be well worth opening. There are better alternatives out there in my opinion including:
- Age of the Gods (Playtech): Featured Athena, Hercules, Poseidon and Zeus, this 5 reel, 20 payline slot can be played from 20p a spin. It comes with 4 free spins features each based on a god which can lead to 50,000 x bet max wins. There are also 4 progressive jackpots with the Ultimate Power Jackpot currently worth £287,584.89.
- Gates of Olympus 1000 (Pragmatic Play): Based on ancient Greek god Zeus, this 6×5 game with Scatter Pays is playable from 20p per spin. There are tumbles for successive wins and Orb multipliers that can give you multipliers up to 1,000x. In the free spins, Orb multipliers count towards the total multiplier for every free spin. Boasting a 96.5% RTP rate, it comes with 15,000 x bet max wins.
- Book of 99 (Relax Gaming): With 5 reels and 10 paylines, this take on the mighty one-eyed Cyclops. It focuses on the Free Spins feature which can be triggered in 2 ways. Once in, you get 10 free spins with a special expand symbol. With more free spins to be won, this up to 5,000 x bet to be won on each free spin. Importantly, it comes with an incredibly-high 99% RTP rate.
