Gonzo’s Quest Slot Review
Gonzo’s Quest features 5 reels and 20 paylines and is brought to you courtesy of NetEnt. With this, you have superb graphics and animations. Gonzo’s Quest is based on the conqueror Gonzalo Pizarro (Gonzo) – his aim is to navigate through the Amazon jungle to find the lost city of gold, Eldorado. You can play at 20p to £50 a spin so it appeals to all levels of slots players too.
Gonzo’s Quest is different is that normal spinning reels are not used – you will see symbols fall from above. They call it Avalanche Reels – it’s pretty similar to the Tumbling Reels in Da Vinci Diamonds. You will see the Mayan themed symbols explode and disappear when you form a winning combination. Then the remaining symbols will fall into the gaps with new symbols appearing the top to fill the spaces. Then the multiplier meter in the top right-hand corner of the screen will go up from 1x to 2x (and to 3x and 5x eventually). So essentially, you could get a 5x multiplier on every winning spin.
The main feature of Gonzo’s Quest is the Free Falls Bonus feature – this is triggered by getting 3 Free Fall scatter symbols on 3 consecutive reels. You will be awarded 10 free spins (or free falls) and you will see the multiplier meter has now changed. With every win, the multiplier value will go from 3x to 6x to 9x to 15x. This means you can get 10 free spins with a 15x multiplier. You will see Gonzo become quite animated when you win – he dances around and even does a moonwalk! Finally, you can re-trigger more free spins/falls too.
Gonzo’s Quest is a really popular online slot in Scandinavian countries and is becoming a cult slot in the UK now. I find it to be a medium to high variance game which doesn’t give me many big wins. However, when I win big, it tends to be quite big – for example, have won over 350 times my stake a few times in the free spins feature. This was Net Entertainment’s first platinum slot game and one that is still much played (and loved) today.
