Peek-a-Boo is brought to you by Microgaming and is a 5 reel, 40 payline slot that is available to play on desktop, mobile and tablet devices. Playable from 40p to £100 a spin, this Halloween/comical-themed game has ghost characters and a Kid who is the hero and tries to zap the ghosts with his neon electric rays. There’s an eerie soundtrack to it which sounds a little like Dracula in my opinion. It has synthesiser sounds which speeds up in the free spins feature too.
In the base game, look out for the Kid symbol on the middle reel (reel 3) which will randomly zap ghosts on to the other reels with his neon electric ray gun – this will reward you with cash prizes as well as the zapped ghost being collected in the Ghost Meter and later used as a free spin.
Once you zap and collect 10 ghosts, you will trigger the Free Spins feature – here you will get the cash value of those ghosts too. You will begin with 10 free spins but you can play with 13. The number of paylines also increases to 1,024 to increase your chances of winning.
Within the feature, look out for a 3 symbol win as reels 4 and 5 will re-spin to increase your win to a 4 or 5 symbol win. If you get a 4 symbol win, reel 5 respins so you can get a 5 symbol win – this is known as Spooky Reels.
There’s more! You will also benefit from Super Stacked Wilds during the feature – these appear on reels 4 and 5 which are evenly stacked 12 symbol high. This can lead to big wins if you’re lucky.
The graphics in Peek-a-Boo are a little disappointing and not as sharp or as ‘modern’ as other Microgaming slots such as Game of Thrones, Jurassic Park or Terminator 2. Saying that, this game is fast paced and quite exciting and is a medium variance title with potential wins of up to 950 times your stake.
It’s not the best slot Microgaming has produced by any means but it’s not bad either. If you like Halloween-themed slots, Blood Suckers by Net Entertainment is recommended as to is Full Moon Fortunes by Ash Gaming.
