A barn full of loot is the setting for Chicken Fox, a farm-themed slot from Lightning Box Games. The highlight of this 5 reel, 25 payline slot is the free spins round where the reels include only blanks and higher value symbols and wilds which can come with 2x multipliers attached. Play on all devices from between 30p and £450 per spin.
The action in Chicken Fox takes place in a cartoon barn. There you’ll find A to 10 royal values plus 4 different chicken symbols. These pay 6.66 times your stake if you land 5 of them in any mixed combination. They’re joined by a goat, a pig and a tractor which is the top paying standard symbol, offering awards of up to 13.33 times your stake per payline.
The farmer’s wife is the wild. She is comfortably the top payer too. Land 5 wilds in combination and you’ll receive an award of 166.66 times your stake. The fox is a second wild. This doesn’t offer any pays in its own right but it does replace all 4 of the chicken symbols.
The main offering, the Free Games feature is triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 of the golden egg scatter. As well as a payout of 2, 10 or 100 times your total stake, you’ll also receive 8, 15 or 30 free spins. These are played out on a new set of reels that are made up of blanks, the 4 chicken symbols, an egg and the wild fox.
Each of the chicken symbols comes with a cash value attached. If a wild lands, the fox gathers all the cash values on display from the chicken symbols and that’s how much you’ll win.
Payouts go up to 2.5 times your stake for the smallest chick right up to 33.33 times your stake if you see the fox wild and the fully grown rooster. Better still is if you see a double fox as this boosts the payout with a 2x multiplier. If you land a fox and egg on the same free spin, you’ll win up to 5 extra free spins.
If the fox is a double, you could get another 10 free spins. Basically, you can win up to 20 free spins with fox and 40 free spins with a double fox (2x multiplier) on each free spin.
Chicken Fox is a simple slot. The cartoon visuals are pretty basic but do the job well enough. The base game action is pretty vanilla too. More potential is on offer in the Free Games feature. We found it quite hard to land and really hit and miss when we did.
We managed to go through a whole round of free spins and win precisely zero. On other occasions, the rooster provided some decent rewards. Medium to high variance, you can win up to 13,500 times your stake if you fill the reels with 2x double fox symbols!
We weren’t bowled over, initially, by Chicken Fox and found it quite frustrating. If you like the farmyard theme, then get stuck in. Once we saw the potential rewards in the feature, we soon grew to like it. I also recommend you Lightning Box Games’ Jackaroo Jack as there’s a huge 768,000 times your stake to be won!
