Theme – a frosty North Pole adventure

From the title, you’d think that Megaways Jack Frost might have something to do with Jack Frost, who was traditionally said to leave frosty patterns on windows in Anglo-Saxon and Norse tales from the past. But it’s not. It’s simply Jack from Jack and the Beanstalk enjoying an adventure in the North Pole.

The reels are set in a snowy village, with a house to the right of the reels and trees in the background. The visuals are pretty basic, and the symbols are too. I do like how the symbols break like a block of ice when a winner lands, though. A lot of slots have very colourful symbols, but these ones don’t jump out as much in my opinion.  They’re colourful but not as bold and don’t catch my eye as much as others.

The soundtrack is very calming and fits well with a fairy tale theme. I wouldn’t say it fits well with a theme with ice and snow, but then I’m not sure exactly what audio would be a good alternative. It’s nice enough, but I wouldn’t blame you for reaching for the mute button after a short while. Land the Free Spins feature and the audio speeds up with the sky in the background turning pink. It’s an improvement on the base game but, again, pretty basic.

On the reels, the A-10 Royals make up the lower-paying symbols. These are joined by higher-paying snowflakes, apples, robins, reindeer and Jack himself. Jack is the most rewarding symbol, paying 1, 2.5, 10 or 25 x the bet for 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 in combination.

Megaways Jack Frost Review Summary – I prefer the Magic Beans

I must admit that as soon as I began testing the Megawyas Jack Frost slot, I was thinking of Megaways Jack and the Magic Beans. I preferred the previous release to be honest as the theme is much better and fits well with the original fairy tale. This one is completely different, which will appeal to some no doubt, but I couldn’t wrap my head around Jack being in the North Pole.

The visuals aren’t too bad, but, again, I preferred the graphics from its predecessor. The soundtrack didn’t get me excited either. Taking these aspects into consideration, I have to give this slot a lower rating than the previous release. I just don’t think it’s an improvement.

Overall, it’s great to see 25,000 x max wins and an above-average RTP rate. This instantly gets my attention and deserves a rating above average. But the visuals and the soundtrack are just that – average. I was expecting more but I’m not overly disappointed with what’s on offer here.
