Dungeons & Dragons Treasures of Icewind Dale Slot Review

Dungeons & Dragons Treasures of Icewind Dale is an IGT-powered video slot with 5 reels and 30 paylines. Playable from as little as 30p a spin to as much as £600 a spin, it’s the third Dungeons & Dragons game to be produced by IGT. The game is based on the classic Kitty Glitter slot but have a Dynamic Stacks feature to increase the action.

The game benefits from a Dynamic Stacks feature where each reel has large stack of the same dynamic symbol. Before each spin, a dynamic symbol is chosen to fill every reels’ stacks. All stacked symbol positions on all reels transform to the same symbol for bigger wins. The stacks are even bigger on some spins but only the 4 Hero symbols fill these bigger reel stacks.

The game, for me anyway, is all about the Free Spins Bonus feature as you venture into the ice dragon’s lair. You can trigger the feature by getting 3 or more Bonus symbols anywhere on the 3 middle reels. You are rewarded with 15 free spins and will enjoy a richer Dynamic Stacks feature. For every 3 Bonus symbols you get on the 3 middle reels during the feature, you will receive a further 15 free spins – there’s a maximum of 225 free spins to be won in total.

Now, what makes this feature interesting is the Dice symbol. For every 3 Dice symbols that appear on the 5th reel, a Hero symbol will turn into a wild. You would need 12 Dice symbols to turn all 4 Hero symbols into wilds. There’s a dice accumulator at the bottom of the screen to mark your progress. So if you manage to change Drizzt, Wulfgar, Catti-brie and Bruenor (the heroes) into wilds, you could walk away with a huge win.

Dungeons & Dragons Treasures of Icewind Dale is a medium to high variance slot game with large wins with a moderate hit frequency. The big wins will come in the Free Spins Bonus feature and only if you get 6 or more Dice symbols. I’ve found the big wins in the base game to be about 50 times your stake however I’ve won over 420 times my stake on 2 occasions in the free spins feature. If you like games like this, I suggest you take a look at the classic Da Vinci Diamonds, also by IGT.
