The Four Seasons is one of the most popular collections of classical music ever written and is the basis for Vivaldi’s Seasons, a 5 reel, 40 payline video slot from High5 Games. Lavishly illustrated and coming complete with bursts of the famous music, it also features stacked symbols and a free games feature. Stakes range from between 40p and £400 per spin.
Each of the four seasons is represented by a different female character on the reels. The winter woman, who looks a little like Jordan, is the biggest payer of the standard symbols with 50 coins for five in a row. That sounds a little on the stingy side but remember that Vivaldi’s Seasons benefits from stacked symbols. All stacked symbol positions on a reel will transform into the same symbol. The same symbol on multiple reels can prove very beneficial.
The Vivaldi’s Seasons logo is the wild and substitutes for all of the other symbols apart from the free spins. Find five wilds in a payline and you can look forward to the cashier rattling away to the tune of 1,000 times your line bet.
Vivaldi’s Seasons also comes with a Free Games feature. You’ll need to hit 9 scatter symbols on the middle 3 reels to trigger the feature. That sounds like a lot but with the super stacked symbols is not quite as difficult as it first appears.
Before the free spins, you have to pick a diamond which will reveal which 1 of the 4 seasons will be the super stack for the duration of the feature. You’ll receive 7 free games complete with the extra super stacks and the standard wild symbols. Unfortunately, you can’t re-trigger the free games during the bonus round.
The visuals in Vivaldi’s Seasons are impressively done, set against a backdrop that offers hints of spring, summer, autumn and winter. If you were expecting to play to a soundtrack featuring Vivaldi’s famous compositions you’ll be a little disappointed though. There are just snatches of music rather than the full works.
The features are fairly simple too – the free spins don’t hit very often but can prove profitable when they do thanks to the super stacked symbols. The super stacks keep the action flowing along in the base game too.
It may not go down as a classic in the mould of the source material, but Vivaldi’s Seasons is certainly an entertaining way to while away an evening. It’s a low variance game though, like the majority of High5 Games slots but I suggest you take a look at Sirens which is the highest variance and my favourite.
