The theme in the Warrior Ways slot game is all about oriental warriors. Set somewhere in futuristic Asia, the reels are set on what looks like a trendy downtown road in the Tokyo Metropolis.

I like the bold colours on the reels and the red and purple sky in the background. It almost gives a sense of armageddon or that something intense is about to occur, which points to the upcoming Clan battles. The visuals are great when Duels occur and it certainly adds to the overall appeal of the slot.

It comes with very unique audio with a mix of far eastern instruments and a futuristic vibe. I wish it wasn’t as repetitive as it is and I have to admit that I was reaching for the mute button after a short while, although it does improve when Duels happen and a bonus feature is triggered.

This feature is where the VS symbol comes into play. A Duel is triggered in the Warrior Ways slot game when a VS symbol lands directly between 2 Clan Warriors on different sides. The VS symbol can appear on reels 2, 3, and 4.

Each Duel will have a Duel Multiplier for each Clan Warrior. In the base game, the possible values are 1x, 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x.

When a Duel is complete, the winning Clan’s High symbol will replace the losing Clan’s symbol. this can happen in 1 of 3 ways:

• The winning Clan’s High symbol replaces the losing Clan’s Low symbols.
• The winning Clan’s High symbol replaces the losing Clan’s High symbols.
• The losing Clan’s Low and High symbols are replaced by the winning Clan’s High symbol.

Clash feature

If 3 Clash symbols land anywhere on the reels at the same time, the Clash feature is triggered. The bonus round is split into 2 phases – the Collect phase and the Clash phase.

The Collect phase only has dead symbols, VS symbols, and special Clan Multiplier symbols. You need to collect as many VS symbols and Clan multipliers as you can during a limited number of spins. You start with 3 spins and the spins will reset to 3 every time a VS symbol or Clan Multiplier lands.

Each reel corresponds to a Clan, in the order red, blue, green, then orange. You will see the Clan’s multiplier value above the corresponding reel. It will start at 1x and increase with the value of each new Clan Multiplier that lands. The values available are 2x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 10x, 15x, 20x, 25x, 50x or 100x.

When an Epic Multiplier lands on reel 3, it will multiply all the collected Clan Multiplier values above reels 1, 2, 4 and 5 by 2x.

When the spins run out in the Collect phase, the feature moves on to the Clash phase. The number of VS symbols collected in the previous phase will determine the number of spins you get in the Clash phase. Each spin guarantees a Duel here, which is exciting.

It’s also important to note here that the collected Clan Multiplier values from the Collect phase will replace the Duel multipliers for each Clan Warrior on all Duels in the Clash phase. You’ll see that these multiplier values are always shown on the Clan Banners next to the reels.

Conquest feature

You will start this feature with 10 free spins once 3 Conquest symbols land anywhere on the reels in the base game at the same time.

When a Clan ends up losing a Duel in this bonus feature, its Clan Banner is damaged. If that gets damaged twice, the Clan is eliminated from the feature and all of that Clan’s symbols are removed from the reels for the rest of the bonus round.

The Warrior Ways slot game may seem complicated on the surface, but once you understand what’s going on after a minute or 2, it’s really easy to understand. It’s a little different to other slots and that’s why we like it. The ones that bring some uniqueness are arguably always the best.

The Clash feature reminded me of Chaos Crew in a way, but the Conquest feature is unique and your best bet at landing the 10,000 x top prize.

The Duel feature brings everything in the game together and it’s a really important but fun part of the Warrior Ways slot. The features are what make this game great. Yes, the sound and the visuals are great too, but the bonus features leave you wanting to trigger them again once they’ve ended.
