Stackways Feature

In both the base game and the free spins rounds, Stackways symbols appear on all reels. This is a special symbol that can transform to reveal a stack of other symbols, and there are 2 types.

Normal Stackways symbols show a number between 2 and 4, whilst Revealing Stackways symbols initially display a question mark. These can then reveal a number between 5 and 10. The number simply relates to the number of stacked symbols you receive.

The symbol that Stackways symbols transform into is chosen based on which symbol would create the longest winning combination. However, it’s also worth noting that Stackways symbols only transform if the stacked symbol would create a winning combination.

Free Spins Feature

Land 3 scatters anywhere on the reels in the base game to trigger the Free Spins feature you begin the round with 10 free spins and a higher chance of landing Stackways symbols.

Super Stack Spins Feature

First of all, Ronin Stackways is a great-looking slot and it’s a good reminder that Hacksaw Gaming can make both light-hearted titles (such as this game and Frank’s Farm) and darker games (Undead Fortune).

When it comes to the gameplay, it’s difficult to not compare the slot with Mayan Stackways. This would be a mistake, however. Whilst both offer the Stackways mechanism, they are pretty different games designed for different players.

Ronin Stackways is much more accessible than its predecessor. The bonus rounds are easy to understand and the math model is relaxed, with a low-medium volatility and 5,000 x bet max wins. This makes the slot perfect for players who found Mayan Stackways a little too stressful.

On the other hand, as a fan of higher-octane slots, I found this to be tame and a little dull. All of the action revolves around the Stackways symbols and I would have liked at least one other feature. Different strokes for different folks though – give it a spin and let us know what you think!
