With a robbery theme, the Le Bandit slot sees you join a charming racoon, Smokey Le Bandit, who is a thief. According to Hacksaw, he will use every trick in the book to fleece you for all you’re worth. Your aim is to get on his good side where he may share some of his scalps and take you on a journey down the road to riches.

Loosely based on the 1977 action comedy film, Smokey and the Bandit, the cartoon-style visuals are superb and have a 40s/French feel to them. Set down a city back alley, the colours are soft and have a sepia palette. Smokey Le Bandit appears ready for action with a crowbar to the side of the grid. There isn’t much of a soundtrack but it does have a slapstick feel to it.

On the grid, you’ll see A, K, Q, J and 10 royals. Higher-value symbols include traps, cheese, beer, baguettes and a magician’s hat (one of Smokey’s disguises). The magician’s hat symbol is the best paying with 13+ in a cluster awarding a 100 x bet payout.

Look out for the Reward Poster Wild symbol that substitutes for all paying symbols above. Le Bandit Bonus Features

The Le Bandit slot has 5 bonus features. Offering cascades, winning symbols leave Golden Squares behind which are activated when Rainbows land. They reveal coins worth up to 500 x bet which are then won. Also, you can see 4-Leaf Clovers which apply multipliers or Pots of Gold which collect coin values and activate Golden Squares again for more wins. This applies to the 3 free spins features with the Treasure at the End of the Rainbow feature guaranteeing a Rainbow on every free spin.

Super Cascade feature

When a winning cluster is formed, the Super Cascade feature triggers. All symbols of the type that won are removed from the grid with new symbols replacing them. Furthermore, the squares behind the winning symbols are highlighted as Golden Squares.

If a Rainbow symbol appears on the grid, any Golden Squares will be activated. Basically, activated Golden Squares reveal Bronze, Silver or Gold Coins. These are worth:

Activated Golden Squares may also show a Pot of Gold or 4-Leaf Clover symbol. Once all these symbols are revealed, any 4-Leaf Clover symbols activate and multiply all coins or existing Pot of Gold symbols on adjacent squares with a value between 2 and 10x.

Pot of Gold symbols activate after all coins have been revealed and 4-Leaf Clovers are activated. They simply collect the values of all coins and other Pot of Gold symbols and store the total value. Pot of Gold symbols activate top to bottom and left to right. Once the last Pot of Gold has been activated, all other Golden Squares activate again to reveal new symbols for the process to repeat itself.

Now, and finally, all coins and Pot of Gold symbols are added together and awarded as a final win. Golden Squares are removed from the grid to start a new base game spin.

Luck of the Bandit feature

The Luck of the Bandit feature is played when 3 Polaroid Camera Scatters appear simultaneously during a base game spin. 8 free spins are then awarded.

During the feature, all Golden Squares remain highlighted between free spins until they are activated by the Rainbow symbol. If you land 2 or 3 scatters, an additional 2 or 4 free spins will be awarded. Finally, landing 4 Polaroid Camera Scatters will see you upgrade to the All that Glitters is Gold feature (more details below) with 4 extra free spins.

All that Glitters Is Gold feature

The All that Glitters is Gold feature can be triggered from the Luck of the Bandit feature or by landing 4 Polaroid Camera Scatters during a base game spin. 12 free spins will be awarded. The difference here is that all Golden Squares remain highlighted throughout the whole feature, even after being activated (by the Rainbow symbol). 2 or 3 scatters will also result in 2 or 4 extra free spins.

Treasure at the End of the Rainbow feature

Finally, the Le Bandit slot comes with a Treasure at the End of the Rainbow feature. With 12 free spins won, it’s triggered by landing 5 Polaroid Camera Scatters simultaneously during a base game spin.

Will all Golden Squares activates throughout the feature (even after being activated), a Rainbow symbol is guaranteed to land on each free spin. With no Bronze Coins appearing, only higher-value Silver and Gold Coins appear.

Thematically, the Le Bandit slot is unique and stands out against other games. With similarities to Hacksaw’s RIP City slot, the sepia palette and 40s/French style really make this naughty racoon’s exploits something of interest. I love how Smokey Le Bandit comments as you spin the reels and achieve various wins and bonus features.

In terms of the gameplay, the bigger the winning cluster, the more Golden Squares will appear on the grid. If a Rainbow symbol appears on the grid at the same time, you will activate the Golden Squares. Hopefully, the activated Golden Squares will reveal some Gold Coins (worth up to 500 x bet).

With 4-Leaf Clovers applying a multiplier up to 10x, the key is to land Pot of Gold symbols. They collect all coin values and other Pot of Gold symbols. This process can occur multiple times if various Pots of Gold appear on the grid.

With the 3 free spins features, you have a higher chance of wins as the Golden Squares will be highlighted until activated or remain activated once highlighted. The Treasure at the End of the Rainbow feature is the one you want though as Rainbow symbols will land on each free spin. For non-UK players, it’s not available to buy your way into it due to the probability of a huge win.

With 10,000 x bet max wins, the Le Bandit slot offers a unique way to rack up coin wins as well as combining multipliers and plenty of free spins.

In my opinion, it’s a different approach to collecting coin wins than we’ve already seen from the likes of Push Gaming (i.e. Razor Returns) and Pragmatic Play (i.e. Rabbit Garden).
