Cascade feature

When a winning combination is created, the Cascade feature comes into play. Winning symbols in the cluster explode with new symbols vacating the empty spaces. Giving you another chance to win, the cascades continue as long as new winning clusters are created.

Charged Symbols feature

When you land a winning cluster, the winning symbol type will enter a charged state and glow. These charged symbols will be shown in the ‘Change Bar’ above the grid. The symbols retain their charged state until the end of the current spin. Look out for the Epic Gem Scatter symbol dropping in on cascades.

When no more wins occurs, the Epic Gem Scatter is activated. The Epic Gem Scatter transforms all charged symbols into the highest value charged symbol. All charged symbols are then absorbed by the Epic Gem and counted as if they were 1 winning cluster.

Counting as 4 symbols, the Epic Gem Scatter will always create a winning cluster as long as there is 1 charged symbol on the grid. Once the Epic Gem absorbs charged symbols, it explodes and gives you another cascade. This is known as the Charged Symbols feature.

Gronk’s Treasure feature

The Gronk’s Treasure feature is activated when 3 Gronk’s Head Scatter symbols land simultaneously on a base game spin. With 10 free spins awarded, there’s a higher chance of landing Epic Gem Scatters than the base game. This means you will trigger the Charged Symbols feature more frequently.

Gem Hoarder feature

Landing 3 Gronk’s Head Scatter symbols on a base game spin will trigger the Gem Hoarder feature. You are then rewarded with 5 refilling free spins. If you land 3 Gem Bag symbols on the same free spin, you will refill all 5 free spins.

Importantly, there is a progressive multiplier that increases whenever winning symbols are removed. The multiplier value increases by the amount equal to the number of removed symbols. For example, the multiplier rises by 5 if 5 winning symbols are removed.

Any winning cluster that connects to the special X-Gem symbol is multiplier by the progressive multiplier. If more than 1 X-Gem symbol connects to the same winning cluster, the progressive multiplier is applied once for each connecting X-Gem symbol.

Aesthetically, the Gronk’s Gem slot is very Hacksaw Gaming: superb, crystal-clear graphics and animations with a slightly dark feel. The loveable troll isn’t scary in the slightest which helps I think. In terms of the symbols, they do stand out on the grid.

When it comes to the gameplay, there are cascades and charged symbols which come to life when an Epic Gem scatter lands. This sees the Epic Gem Scatter absorbing charged symbols for a guaranteed win and another spin/cascade.

Then there are 2 free spins features with the Gronk’s Treasure feature seeing more Epic Gem Scatters land than in the base game. It’s all about the Gem Hoarder feature where the progressive multiplier increases proportionally to the number of winning symbols removed. Coupled with the X-Gem symbol, this can lead to a huge overall multiplier and ultimately wins of up to 7,500 x bet. Expect plenty of retriggers as 3 X-Gem symbols will land fairly frequently.
