Plants battle zombies in FruitZ, a 5 reel, 25 payline slot from Foxium. Trigger the bonus wheel and you could win free spins with sticky wilds or 2 wild reels or 2 shoot ‘em up-style pick ‘em games. Collecting cards as you play also awards special bonus prizes and increases the potential RTP rate. Play on all devices from between 25p and £25 per spin.
Cartoon trees and fields form the backdrop to the action here. On the reels you’ll see a collection of fruity symbols that have all turned into zombies. There are 8 standard symbols in all. The best of them is the zombie apple which pays 0.8, 4 or 10 times your total stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 on a payline.
The zombie raspberry is the wild. This replaces all other symbols apart from the scatter wheel. Hitting 3, 4 or 5 wilds in combination results in a payout of 1.2, 8 or 20 times your total stake. Watching over proceedings is farm girl Joi who’s brandishing a big gun. Land 2 scatters and she’ll fire a shot and try and hit the third.
If you do manage to land 3 scatters on the same spin, you’ll get to spin the bonus wheel. Depending on where the pointer lands, you’ll win 1 of the following 4 extras:
- Shoot the Crates feature – you’ll get 3 shots at 12 crates. Behind them lie cash prizes or potentially extra shots.
- Shoot the Jam Jars feature – once again, you’ll get to take 3 shots and try and win cash prizes. 2 of the jars contain 3 extra shots.
- Free Spins with the Sticky Wilds feature – 8 free spins are awarded here. If a wild lands, it locks in position for the rest of the feature. You can land up to 8 extra wilds in this feature.
- Free Spins with Locked Reels feature – land this round and you’ll receive 5 free spins. 2 reels will be wild throughout the whole of this feature.
FruitZ also comes with a Card Collection feature – each time a treasure chest lands, a card is collected. There are 8 different sets to collect. Completing sets offers extra prizes and also increases the potential Return to Player rate.
The theme in FruitZ is very silly. The features aren’t bad though, especially the free spins with the wild extras. It’s easy on the eye and ear too. I do prefer slots with more substance and Foxium’s The Great Albini certainly delivers this.
