For my Vulcan’s Gold review, I played with £1 per spin. However, you can play with bets between 10p and £100, which is a standard wager range for most slot sites. All controls are on a panel at the bottom of the screen. You can spin and set your stakes here, which is typical for most free slots.

There’s a Vulcan’s Gold RTP of 96.16%. So, while it’s not one of the best RTP slots, it still aligns with the market average. There aren’t RTP ranges, which is a significant positive. It is a medium volatility slot, but it felt much higher while I played the Vulcan’s Gold demo.

You can grab up to 5,760x your stake as the Vulcan’s Gold max win. I think it’s quite low, particularly with how the variance feels when playing. It’s well below what jackpot slots offer, which is ironic with it having its own jackpots to win. The best wins I managed were 62x my stake in the base game and 34x in the bonus round.

Theme—Unoriginal, Clean Visuals

I was torn on the theme when I first loaded up at Vulcan’s Gold casinos. The visuals look quite nice; they’re clean and crisp and pop out from the screen. Developers often create visuals with jagged edges that don’t look good. It’s not the case with Fantasma Games; they have made sure the graphics look fantastic here.

However, I’ve seen it all before. It’s something that frustrates me about new slots—they’re not willing to take risks. Vulcan’s Gold is the same; everything looks good, but its approach is very safe. Mythology is a well-mined theme; if it had a Cyberpunk or Anime feel, for instance, it would stand out from everything else on the market.

It’s not to say that Fantasma has done a bad job; I just wish they had taken a few risks. Despite my own personal feelings, if you generally enjoy games with a Roman Mythology theme, you’ll enjoy this game.

Vulcan’s Gold Mobile

Vulcan’s Gold mobile slot is excellent. It’s fully optimised, so there are no slow loading times or screen freezes. The controls remain similar, making it easy to use. When you load up at a mobile casino, it doesn’t require too much effort to get started quickly. As a result, it’s a solid conversion from the desktop.

Vulcan’s Gold Bonus Features

The Vulcan’s Gold bonus features are okay but don’t come along often enough. It’s this aspect that makes me feel as though the volatility is high rather than medium. For example, in almost 1,000 spins, I only triggered the free spins round twice. The wild symbol is a nice touch, though. It can expand to completely fill a reel, helping to create extra wins.

Diamond Coin Collection

During the base game, coins can land on the reels. They have a value between 0.4 and 15x your stake. If you land a collect symbol on the fifth reel, it will collect the value of all coins on the reels.

Jackpot Prizes

A jackpot value is above each reel. If they land, they can also be collected by the collect symbol. Whenever a coin lands on the corresponding reel, it adds 0.5x the stake to the jackpot value. The starting and maximum possible jackpot values are as follows:

• Mini: 5x – 75x
• Minor: 10x – 100x
• Major: 50x – 250x
• Mega: 200x – 1,000x
• Grand: 1,000x – 5,000x

Vulcan’s Lucky Wheel

There’s a chance for the lucky wheel to trigger on any spin randomly. If it triggers, it spins the wheel and pays out one of the available jackpots. Once it’s paid out, the jackpot value resets back to its starting point.

Free Spins

The Free Spins round is a mix of Free Spins and hold and win mechanics. Landing 5 bonus symbols in the base game awards the Free Spins. When you land one scatter on each reel, it also triggers three Free Spins.

If you land four scatters during the base game, it increases the Free Spin multiplier by 0.5. All standard symbols are removed when the Free Spins begin, and only Blank, Fire Up, Extra Spin, Coin, and Collect symbols can land.

It then adds a multiplier boost and extra spin symbols. The multiplier boost adds 1 to the multiplier total, and the extra Free Spin adds a single spin. On every spin, coins will land, but you only get winnings if there is also a collect symbol. If there’s a multiplier above 1, it will increase the size of the win for each spin.

Free Spins are played with the same Bet configuration as the round that activated the Free Spins.

Free Spins Multiplier

The Free Spins Multiplier consists of 10 levels with multipliers: 1x, 1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 8x, 10x. The level is increased by 1 from landing 4 Bonus symbols during the base game or from landing a Fire Up symbol in the Free Spins. The Free Spins Multiplier goes only as high as 10x. After being applied in Free Spins, the multiplier is reset to 1x.

Vulcan’s Gold is a solid video slot. It doesn’t take any risks, but at the same time, it doesn’t make any real mistakes. If you’re looking for a simple and comforting experience, this is the title for you.

However, if you want a game that will make you sit up straight, Vulcan’s Gold won’t do that. It looks nice enough and has some decent features, but they don’t trigger often enough. The end result is long stretches where you’re spinning and waiting for something to happen.

It’s not all negative; I like the number of paylines on offer, which makes creating some big wins possible. The coin collection is quite good, offering the chance for some substantial base game wins. However, the free spins are a huge disappointment. Over 900 spins for two free spin triggers and a combined win of less than 50x really frustrated me. It’s an okay game, but there’s much room for improvement. 3.6/5.
