Samurai Ken is a release from Fantasma Games that has 5 reel, 20 payline offering – it can be played on all devices from 20p to £40 per spin. With an odd Japanese/oriental theme, this game comes sticky win respins and a free spins feature.
In terms of looks, Samurai Ken is excellent – it has a Japanese feel to it as you go on an adventure with Ken, who is a Samurai tiger, as his battles with an evil dragon. With a serene and tranquil backdrop, symbols on the reels include dragon eyes and claws, Samurai swords, shields, tokens, evil dragons and Samurai Ken himself. The treasure chest is the most lucrative giving you 37.5 times your stake for 5 on a payline. There’s also a wild that replaces all symbols bar the scatter.
Samurai Ken comes with a Sticky Win Respin feature which is triggered when you get a winning combination – all positions that give you a win hold in place with the other positions respinning. If more symbols add to that win, you get more respins with those symbols locked in place. The respins continue until no more new wins are formed.
That scatter is the War Flag which appears only on reels 1, 3 and 5 – when it appears simultaneously on those reels, you will trigger the Free Spin Battle feature. The number of free spins awarded is random and the 5th reel is covered entirely by a Samurai Tiger or Dragon symbol. 3 scatters on the odd numbered reels will retrigger the feature giving you more free spins.
Overall, Samurai Ken is visually superb and has a good backstory – the features are decent too. It’s a medium to high variance title with a maximum 750 times your stake available on each spin/respin/free spin. Does it live up to the standard set by Super Sumo? Not quite but it’s a good game. Fantasma Games has more rewarding slots with Flower Fortunes MegaWays my recommendation.
