With a World War 2 theme,  the Pacific Gold slot is the latest game in ELK’s ‘Gold’ series. Adventurer Kane has been on many adventures like to the Nepalese mountains (Katmandu Gold) and Africa (in Zulu Gold) amongst other exotic locations.

This adventure takes Kane back in time to World War 2 times in what seems like a fighter plane graveyard. With a spine-tingling soundtrack, the imagery is creepy and eerie. Pacific Gold Bonus Features

Avalanche feature

When a winning formation is created, the Avalanche feature is triggered. The contributing symbols are replaced by new symbols. Wins will see a new row added which increases the number of ways to win. With up to 8 rows possible in total, you can benefit from up to 262,144 ways to win.

Avalanches continue until no more new wins are created. When no new win is created, you’ll revert back to playing with 4 rows and 4,096 ways to win. Here’s how the number of rows impacts the potential ways to win.

Big Symbols feature

All low, medium, high and wild symbols can exist in 4 sizes: 1×1, 2×2 (Super), 3×3 (Mega) and Epic (4×4). Known as the Big Symbols feature, larger symbols count as the number of 1×1 symbols that make up that big symbol. Importantly, big symbols clear away 1×1 symbols on their way down making them the same type. This increases your chances of an avalanche and more rows/ways to win.

Power Stack feature

You will see 1×1 Power Stack symbols which represent a stack of 4 of the same symbol. Called the Power Stack feature, the Power Stack increases and represents 2 more symbols for each avalanche it’s not a part of.

Pacific Wave feature

The Pacific Wave feature is a horizontal stack of the same symbol appearing in 1×2, 1×3 or 1×4 in size. It falls downwards due to gravity with the empty spaces beneath it filled with wilds. The Pacific Wave is removed when part of a win/avalanche.

Ghost Box feature

The Ghost Box feature sees a Ghost Box symbol collecting all symbols that are part of a win. Big symbols are broken apart and count as 1×1 symbols. The collection ends when no extra wins are created with the box distributing the collected symbols row by row starting with the most common symbol type. Only bonus scatters aren’t collected in the Ghost Box.

Pacific Wave Free Drops feature

The Pacific Wave Free Drops feature is played when you land 3 or more plane bonus scatters anywhere in view. 3, 4, 5 or 6 scatters will award you with 10, 15, 20 or 25 free spins/drops respectively.

Beginning with 4 rows (and 4,096 ways to win), the Safety Level advances 1 row for every win/avalanche. This means for future free spins, you’ll play with 5 rows and 15,625 ways to win. The extra can lead to 8 rows and 262,144 rows to win. The Safety Level means the number of rows/ways to win will only increase.

Finally, 3 or more bonus scatters will give you additional free spins, with no limits. A Ghost Box appearing during the free spins is persistent and remains in play for remaining free spins. It explodes and distribute its content when no free spins or no extra wins appear.

Pacific Gold Review Summary – Kane’s latest adventure is a good one

The Pacific Gold slot is another decent game in the ‘Gold’ series. Not as appealing as Zulu Gold in my opinion, the theme/graphics is down to personal taste. It’s perfectly playable though and comes with high-definition visuals. I do like the siren sound when you get a decent win.

Every win/avalanche increase the number of rows and ways to win. This is a good way to increase your win potential. It’s similar to the Explosion feature in Playtech’s Chilli Xtreme slot which sees a row added for every win (up to 262,144 ways to win coincidently).

In terms of the other bonus features, Pacific Gold uses extras found in other ‘Gold’ series slots. There are Big Symbols like Katmandu Gold and stacked symbols like Zulu Gold. The addition in this game is the Ghost Box feature which sees collected symbols spread on rows.

You also have the Pacific Wave feature where horizontal stacks adds single wilds beneath it. If this is triggered when playing with 8 rows, you can benefit from lots of wilds. The Pacific Wave Free Drops feature is where the big wins should come from as the number of ways to win can also increase. Landing a Ghost Box early can also help dramatically.

With 10,000 x stake max wins per spin, it offers the same win potential as other ‘Gold’ series slots. With nothing much between the bonus features, it’s all down to taste and whether you like 1 theme more than another. That said, the Avalon Gold slot offers the biggest wins with 50,000 x bet top payouts.

Overall, it’s a good slot but ELK Studios could push the boat out a little more and bring something innovative and new to the table.
