With Mr. Romano’s tower in the backdrop, symbols on the reels include medical bags, bowls with diamonds in them and Mr. Lake’s 5 companions – you have the Elephant, Alligator, Monkey, Parrot and Goldfish. The Goldish character is the most rewarding giving you 50 times your stake for 5 across a payline. Mr. Lake is the wild symbol and replaces all symbols bar the Bonus Key.

The Lake’s Five symbol is the bonus scatter. 2 of them will trigger the Respins feature where Mr. Lake appears and turns the scatters into respin wilds. The reels containing the wilds shift 1 step downwards on every respin – the respins continue until you trigger The Heist Bonus Game feature or only 1 scatter remains on the reels. Here, you can trigger the all-important feature and get extra wins from the wilds.

The Heist Bonus Game feature can also be triggered by getting 3 scatters – here, the Lake’s Five try to break into Mr. Romano’s heavily guarded office at the top of the Romano tower in order to release the captured monkey. You begin with 10 free spins.

During the feature, the aim is to collect golden keys as these will unlock cascading wild features and give you extra free spins for every 1 you collect. If you collect 3 keys on reel 1, you will until the Walking Wild feature. You will then see walking wilds move 1 reel to the right after every free spin.

If you collect 3 keys on reel 3, you will until the Sticky Wild feature – sticky wilds remain in place for the duration of the feature. Lastly, 3 keys on reel 5 will unlock the Climbing Wild feature – climbing wilds move upwards 1 row at a time on every free spin.

If wild symbols cross paths and end up on the same position, this will generate a 2x or 3x wild which is applied to that free spin. Finally, if all 3 features are unlocked, the captured monkey is released from his cage to take part in a disco fever ending! I really, really like Lake’s Five – it doesn’t surprise me though as ELK Studios really push the boundaries when it comes to offering innovative concepts and bonus features. It’s a medium to high variance offering too with maximum wins of 2,160 times your total stake on each free spin (involving the 3x wild multiplier).
