If the snake passes over the current selected symbol type, the snake eats the symbol and grows in length. The symbol goes into survival mode and remains on the grid for the next avalanche. Crossing feature

Now, if snakes cross each other, the Crossing feature will be triggered. A 2x multiplier wild is created in the position where snakes cross paths. If other snakes pass through the multiplier wild, the multiplier value doubles to 4x, 8x and so on. The original Coba game was and is very popular. It made sense for ELK Studios to produce the Coba Reborn slot. Keeping true to the original, the graphics are very similar although the adventure takes place in the jungles of Indonesia rather than in the Mayan equivalent.

In terms of bonus features, Coba Reborn offers pretty much what the original did. You have Avalanches and a Snake Meter that is filled when you land winning combinations. With 4 levels in the Snake Meter, up to 6 snakes can appear on the grid at any 1 time. When Snakes cross paths, a multiplier wild is added which can then increase with each snake that passes through.

The new addition is the Orchids feature where the snakes eat 4 different Orchids. These spawn new snakes, create multiplier wilds and revive themselves. Basically, the Orchids keep the action going.

Are the Orchids enough? ELK Studios has lower than RTP to 94% (from 95%) and the win potential of 25,000 x bet is exactly the same. This sequel is also higher volatility.

In summary, the Coba Return slot is slightly better visually and has more bonus features. Offering the same max wins, the RTP is lower with the variance being higher. If ELK Studios had increased the top prize, there would be a case to try the sequel. However, it’s a new take on the original idea which doesn’t do enough in my opinion to make it stand out against the original slot.

Looking at sequels, Blueprint Gaming released the Diamond Mine 2 Megaways slot.
