The design in The Sky’s The Limit has a cartoon feel and is nicely done – the setting is an airport with a baggage carousel running beneath the reels (of which more shortly). Joining the A to 10 playing cards are a pilot, a stewardess and 3 destination symbols – New York, Dubai and Las Vegas. The Vegas symbol is the most rewarding. Land 5 of these and you’ll win 25 times your total bet. There’s also a wild that replaces everything apart from the bonus symbols.
The first decision you’ll have to make is what class to fly in – the better the class, the higher the stakes. You’ll also get a boost to the Return to Player Rate % the higher you go. The choices are:
- Economy Class (1 unit per line, 86% RTP)
- Frequent Flyer (2.5 units per line, 88% RTP)
- Premium (5 units per line, 92% RTP)
- Business (10 units per line, 95% RTP)
- There’s also Upper Class which can be awarded only after being upgraded from Business.
There are plenty of features on offer at this airport:
Flight Status Upgrade feature – watch out for the Upgrade symbol which can land on reel 5 only. When it does, you’ll be bumped a class and awarded a re-spin with payouts from the new higher class. After the spin is complete, you’ll revert back to your normal class unless you land another upgrade symbol on reel 5. In which case, you’ll move up again. You could make it all the way to Business here.
Free Spins feature – if you manage to get an upgrade while spinning in Business Class, you’ll get to the exclusive Upper Class level and will be awarded 5 free spins. Any wilds that land here are locked in place for the remainder of the free spins.
In A Spin feature – this spin the wheel round is triggered by landing 3 or more of the In A Spin symbols. Spin the wheel. Depending on where the multiplier lands, you’ll win multipliers or a special mystery prize.
Suitcase feature – you’ll see the conveyor belt full of suitcases moving behind the reels. This can stop at random and in the process, offer a special bonus. Choose 1 of the 3 suitcases to reveal 1 of the following rewards.
- Mile High Club – spin the reels and you’re guaranteed a win of at least 10 times your stake.
- Mega Win – the reels will spin and reveal a win of at least 50 times your stake.
- 5 of a kind – you’re guaranteed a 5 in a row winner here.
- In A Spin – pick this and you’ll trigger the bonus feature.
- Upgrade – this awards an upgrade and a re-spin.
- Combi – the next spin will result in at least 4 winning lines.
There’s are plenty of bonus destinations to visit in this flying themed slot – we didn’t find it too exotic on the bankroll though as the variance was quite low. We triggered the features regularly and got lots of variety from our play.
The combination of cartoon design and range of extras works well enough. It’s not the most adventurous slot you’ll see as far as volatility goes but for some solid holiday entertainment The Sky’s The Limit does the trick. Alternatively, Playtech’s Top Gun is much more thrilling (and based on a superb film!).
