Join the warriors of the ancient Greek city states in Colossus Fracpot, a 5 reel 20 payline slot from Core Gaming. Land matching keys in adjacent positions to unlock the progressive jackpot elements where prizes of up to £1 million can be won. Play from between 20p and £100 per spin.

The reels here are set within classical marble columns and include a selection of lower value Greek-style letter symbols. You’ll also see a warrior’s helmet which awards up to 16 times your total bet. The Spartan soldier is the best of the standard symbols. Land 2, 3, 4 or 5 of these in a single payline and you’ll win an award equal to 0.5, 4, 8 or 25 times your total stake.

Most lucrative of all is the gold coin which is the wild – as well as replacing all other symbols, it offers payouts of 1, 5, 25 or 50 times your total bet if you land 2, 3, 4 or 5 in combination. You’ll also see a number of bronze, silver and gold keys spinning around the reels. These are central to the game’s only feature – the progressive fracpot.

To trigger 1 of the 3 fracpot rounds, you need to land the same colour key sequentially on reels 1 and 2. Once triggered, you’ll be taken to a new screen where a set of scales will appear. This will give you the chance to collect part of the payout and gamble a proportion in the hope of turning it into a prize.

Whether the gamble is successful depends on whether a third key lands on reel 3 – if it does, the initial process is repeated. The goal is to fill all 5 reels with matching keys which will trigger the progressive jackpot. If you chose to cash out part of the prize, you’ll collect that, even if your gamble spin is unsuccessful.

The bronze jackpot pays 500 times your total stake – the silver awards 2,500 times your total bet while the gold jackpot awards a whopping 10,000 times your stake. At the max bet of £100 per spin, that’s a top prize of £1 million!

The collect or gamble element is a nice take on the progressive jackpot slot – we’d have liked to have seen a little more than this on the features front though. There’s nothing on offer here bar the progressive. If you’re after free spins, pick ‘em rounds and the like, then look elsewhere.

The design is solid enough, complete with a brooding backing track. We were a little underwhelmed by the features in Colossus Fracpot though. The big potential rewards on offer from the 3 progressive jackpots make it worth considering though, especially if you enjoy the ancient theme. Alternatively, any of the Age of the Gods series from Playtech offer jackpots and plenty of other bonus features.
