Pollinating a sweet tasting jackpot or 2 is the aim in Beehive Bedlam Reactors, an unusual 7 reel slot from Core Gaming. Played using a cascading reels game engine, collect enough honey to trigger the Honey Jar Bonus Game where a worker bee flies through the air collecting coins. You’ll also get a shot at a progressive prize. Get buzzing from between 10p and £500 per spin.
The design in Beehive Bedlam Reactors is rather nicely done – the action takes place within a wooden beehive which is made up of a honeycomb of symbols. Winning combinations are created by landing between 5 and 15 matching symbols in combination. These combinations can be vertical, horizontal or in clusters.
After a winner is landed, the successful symbols are removed and new symbols drop in to replace them. These symbol drops continue as long as a new winning combo is created. Symbols include red, blue, pink and purple flowers as well as a daisy and the bee keeper.
Every time you land a combination that features the bee keeper, you’ll add to the honey jar. This has 20 levels. Once you’ve filled it to the top, you’ll trigger the Honey Jar Bonus feature. You’ll then be taken to a new screen and play a video style game where a bee has to try and avoid obstacles and collect coins.
Beehive Bedlam Reactors is played in a number of different worlds – these are made up of 10 different levels. When you complete all the levels in a world, Buzz the bee will get a makeover and you’ll get a special bonus multiplier prize.
In the base game, you’ll also see a Free Fall symbol – if you land 3 or more of these in combination, you’ll trigger the Free Falls feature. Land 3, 4, 5 or 6+ Free Falls and you’ll receive 8, 10, 12 or 15 free spins. New higher value Big Boss and Queen Bee symbols are added to the honeycomb here.
You’ll also have a chance at winning the progressive jackpot element – on the last spin, a bee will fly across the reels and drop letters into a box. If they spell the word JACKPOT, you’ll scoop the big one!
We found the variance in Beehive Bedlam Reactors to be pretty low – expect plenty of lower value wins in the base game. However, there’s plenty to like about Beehive Bedlam Reactors which has the feel of a social media-style game rather than a slot.
The design is excellent and there’s plenty of action from the gameplay. If you’re a fan of old school fruit machine style slots, this probably won’t float your boat. If you’re looking for something a little bit different that still offers a potential jackpot sting, then this could leave you buzzing. I do recommend you try some of Core Gaming’s other titles, like Balthazar’s Wild Emporium, which is excellent.
