Rise of Atlantis is a scatter pays slot with 6 reels and 5 rows. Wins are awarded when 8 or more matching symbols land anywhere on the reels, and you’ll also benefit from a cascading reels mechanism.

The cascading reels mechanism means that when you do land a winning combination, the contributing symbols are removed from the reels and a new ones drop in to take their place. This gives you the chance to win more than once from a single spin.

You can play Rise of Atlantis for as little as 20p, up to £100 per spin. To adjust your stake, simply click the coin icon below the reels. This pulls up a menu of preset bet sizes.

Players from outside of the UK can also use an Autospin feature, which allows the game to play between 10 and 200 spins on your behalf. Unfortunately, the slot does not include an option for faster spins.

Theme – visit the lost ancient city

Unsurprisingly, the Rise of Atlantis slot is set in the Ancient Greek city of Atlantis. This is a theme Blueprint Gaming have visited before in Master of Atlantis, yet you can expect more striking graphics this time around.

Poseidon stands to the left of the reels, in the depths of a vibrant blue ocean. The reels themselves appear between two impressive columns, fitting for the King of the Sea. Lower value symbols are represented by coloured gems, whilst higher paying symbols include columns, jugs, tridents and crowns. Poseidon himself is the slots’s highest paying symbol, offering you up to 50 x your bet for a winning combination. Poseidon symbols also often appear stacked, giving you more chances at big wins.

Like most scatter pays/grid slots, Rise of Atlantis does not feature a wild symbol. There is a bonus scatter though. Landing four or more of these anywhere on the reels will trigger the Free Spins feature.

Rising Multipliers Feature

The Rising Multiplier feature can be randomly triggered on any spin. Once triggered, a bubble will float up to a random position on the reels, carrying a multiplier between 2 and 100 x your stake. The bubble will stay in place until all cascading wins have been counted, and then the multiplier will be applied to the total value of the win.

On the next spin, the bubble multiplier rises one position on the reels. It then counts again, until it reaches the top row and leaves the reels. This means that, if the bubble appears on the bottom row at first, you can benefit from the multiplier for 5 spins.

Free Spins Feature

If you land 4 or more scatters in the base game, you’ll activate the Free Spins feature. Landing 4 scatters gives you 12 free spins, 5 scatters gives you 15 free spins, and 6 scatters gives you 20 free spins.

There isn’t much difference between the Free Spins round and the base game, aside from how the Rising Multipliers work. In the Free Spins game, when multiplier bubbles land and rise a position, their values increase too. With this feature, you can achieve multipliers of up to 500 x your stake.

You can gain extra free spins by landing three or more scatters during the Free Spins game. The round ends when all spins are used up, or when the max win amount is achieved.

Bonus Buy Feature

Rise of Atlantis Review Summary – not quite fit for a king (of the sea)

The Rise of Atlantis slot has great graphics and the combination of cascading reels, multipliers of up to 500 x and free spins give you lots to enjoy. Despite a medium to high volatility, things tick over nicely in the base game, but the free spins round is when things start to heat up.

The rising multiplier bubbles are what you want to watch out for. As they stay on the reels, they can give you enhanced wins for up to 5 spins. What’s more, the way the multiplier increases in value during the free spins round gives you plenty of chances to win big and may even lead to reaching the maximum win of 10,000 x your bet.

That said, the city of Atlantis is famously lost and we’re not sure all types of players will seek to find it. The game shares many similarities to Gates of Olympus by Pragmatic Play, which in turn shares much with Sweet Bonanza (also by Pragmatic Play). The main difference is that the max win is higher, yet the Rise of Atlantis RTP is lower than both of the games we’ve just mentioned.

Considering the math model, we’re not quite convinced Rise of Atlantis offers anything more appealing than similar slots, and it doesn’t offer any innovative features. Still, if you enjoy the theme then its definitely worth a spin, just don’t expect anything too unique.
