Blueprint Gaming are best known for their feature heavy branded slots but they’ve kept things simple in Eye of Horus, their latest Egyptian-themed release. It’s a 5 reel, 10 payline game that comes with expanding wilds and a bonus round that awards up to 17 free spins complete with symbol upgrades. Stakes range from between 10p and £100 per spin.
There’s nothing especially flashy about the design in Eye of Horus. The sandy, stone reels include lower value A to J symbols as well as a selection of Egyptian hieroglyphs. In order of value are fans, ankh crosses, the scarab beetle, the sun god Ra and the dog God Anubis.
The eye of Horus is the most lucrative of the standard symbols. You’ll pocket an award of 10, 25 or 50 times your stake if you manage to land 3, 4 or 5 of these in combination. Helping things along is the bird god Horus which is the wild. This can hit on all 5 reels. When it does, it expands and turns the whole of the reel wild.
Eye of Horus comes with a Free Games feature. It’s triggered by landing 3, 4 or 5 scatters on the same spin. After receiving a payout of 2, 20 or 50 times your stake, you’ll go on to play 12 free spins. The expanding wilds are in play during the free spins.
When 1 hits, it upgrades 1 of the hieroglyph symbols. After the first wild hits, all the fan symbols turn into ankh crosses. When the next wild hits, all those ankh crosses become scarab beetles and so on. Landing 1, 2 or 3 expanding wilds also adds another 1, 3 or 5 free spins to your tally.
Eye of Horus is a very straightforward game. The imagery is simple but rather nicely drawn, especially the hieroglyph symbols. The base game soundtrack is generic and has the feel of a classic brick and mortar casino slot. There’s something a bit more in keeping with the theme in the free spins.
There’s nothing complex about the gameplay either. The best chances arise in the Free Games feature. Land a good run of wilds and their associated symbol upgrades. If you’ve played Blueprint Gaming slots before, you might have expected a huge selection of extras here. This is a much more stripped back offering. If you like the Egyptian theme, I recommend you try other titles like Quickspin’s Ark of Mystery of IGT’s Cleopatra.
