They had gone for medium to high volatility originally, but since changed it as they developed the game. It was also called The Bounty Hunter Unchained originally but they’ve since dropped the ‘The’. I also mentioned above that there are 10,000 ways to win. This has also changed from the original design where Blueprint Gaming wanted 15,625 ways to win initially.

The maximum win is 8,000 x the bet. Your best chance of getting anywhere near the top prize will come in the Unchained Free Spins feature, although it’s not the only way you can land it. It’s just the best way due to the Wanted Wilds staying active for the whole bonus feature. More on that further down in the review.

Theme – time to eliminate some outlaws

The reels are set in the wintery wilderness with snow falling and log cabins in the background. I’m not quite sure why it’s set in winter to be honest. Maybe because it was released at the end of October, which makes it close(ish) to Christmas? Maybe not. Still, the visuals are simple but effective and I also like the soundtrack as you get an authentic Western experience from it.

Land one of the Free Spins features and the reels move to a different part of town, with the on-theme music playing at a faster pace as the snow continues to fall in the background. Again, the visuals are OK but I like the way it plays overall. The explosions and the gunshots throughout the game add to the authenticity too. It’s been well thought out.

On the reels, the lower-paying symbols are the A-10 Royals. These are joined by numerous outlaws with different coloured backgrounds. The purple outlaw symbol is the most lucrative, paying  0.5, 1, 2 or 5 x the stake for 3, 4, 5 or 6 in combination.

The game’s Wild is the Bounty Hunter and will only appear on the top tracker above the reels. It is a persistent Wild and will never be removed during any winning cascades. If this Wild symbol forms a win with an Oulaw symbol, the Outlaw will become a Wanted Wild, as explained in the bonus features section below.

Released on the 20th of October 2023, the Bounty Hunter Unchained mobile slot is compatible with desktops, tablets and mobiles. The game plays well on Android and iOS devices, but I do think it looks better on a bigger screen as you can appreciate the visuals of the larger reel size more.

Wanted Wilds

Bounty Hunter Free Spins Feature

Landing 3 of 4 Bonus Scatters in the base game of the Bounty Hunter Unchained slot game will trigger this bonus feature and award 6 or 8 free spins respectively.

Any winning cascade during the bonus feature will increase the Win Multiplier by 1x. If any Wanted Wilds are created during the bonus round, they will not hold between spins.

Unchained Free Spins Feature

Landing 5 or 6 Bonus Scatters in the base game will trigger this bonus feature and award 10 or 12 free spins respectively. This bonus feature plays in the same way as the other Free Spins feature with just one difference – any Wanted Wilds created during these free spins will remain active throughout the whole bonus feature.

Blueprint Gaming doesn’t dip its toes into Wild West-themed games very often, but the impressive design and solid action as you spin away makes you wonder why they’ve not tested the waters with too many in the past. It is a good slot to play with some fun bonus features for those who enjoy this style of gameplay.

OK, so this one won’t go down as one of the best UK slots ever created but there’s a lot to like. The above-average RTP rate of 96.12% and 8,000 x max wins are a good start. Then comes the unlimited free spins and the unlimited win multiplier. Another tick in the things to like column. However, it’s worth noting here that it took me a while to trigger the normal Free Spins feature and a lot longer to trigger the Unchained Free Spins feature.

If you want to enjoy bigger wins, they’re going to be hard to come by in the base game due to the low-paying symbols. You could land numerous cascades, but they’re going to be few and far between. I found that out after testing the game for a few hours. Your best chance of getting anywhere near the top prize is going to come in the Unchained Free Spins feature.
