Theme: an intergalactic sequel

With a spy/space theme, the Max Megaways 2 slot is the intergalactic sequel to Max Megaways. Set in outer space, Max has landed on the moon where he aims to defeat evil. The setting is an evil village in space with the moon clearly on show in the backdrop.

Graphically, it’s very good with the reels all set within the villain’s lair. It reminds me a little of the 1979 Moonraker film. Symbols on the reels include A, K, Q, J, 10 and 9 playing cards. The Max Megaways 2 slot has many similarities to the original game albeit with a different setting. Whilst the original has an Austin Powers/James Bond feel, this version is a little more generic and lacks a little character in my opinion.

With different randomly-triggered base game features, the focus are the free and/or the enhanced free spins. With different Power-Ups selected every time you play free spins, it creates excitement and changes the experience each time.

I really like the Double Multiplier Power-Up for obvious reasons but the newly-added Symbol to Wild Power-Up can give you plenty of Wild symbols on reels 2 through 5. Add this to the unlimited win multiplier and big payouts are available.

Now, with 147,620 x bet max wins available, the Max Megaways 2 slot offers bigger win potential that its predecessor (139,200 x bet). The drawback is that you can win 11,140 x bet on a base game spin vs 10,820 x bet in the sequel. Return wise, the Max Megaways 2 RTP is 96.64% which is a lot higher than the 96.37% offered in Max Megaways.

Whilst the gameplay is almost identical bar a couple of base game features and Power-Ups, the increased max win potential and huge RTP increase will certainly appeal to fans of the original game. Finally, 1 or 2 innovative bonus features would really make Max Megaways 2 stand out considerably from it’s predecessor but you can’t have it all. Overall, Big Time Gaming have delivered a bigger and better sequel which is all you can hope for.
