Big Time Gaming lives up to its name by delivering some big features in Faeries Fortune, a 5 reel, 40 payline luck themed slot. The chief attraction is the free spins round where gigantic 4×4 Mega Icon symbols offer some potentially spectacular prizes. Play from between 40p and £40 per spin.

The visuals in Faeries Fortune are impressively done – set against a woodland backdrop with a female faerie overseeing proceedings, the reels include Celtic style A, K and Q symbols alongside a 4-leaf clover, horseshoe and a golden jewel. There is also a wild as well as a trio of bonus-triggering symbols.

You’ll notice that the symbols are a little different to most slots – as well as appearing normal sized, symbols can also land in 2×2, 3×3 and even 4×4 Mega Icon configurations.

Land a Faerie scatter as a Mega Icon and you’ll trigger the Faeries Gems feature – for each square that make up the Mega Icon, you’ll be awarded a key. Each key awards a payout of between 1 and 100 times your stake. Land the biggest 4×4 Mega Icon and you’ll get 16 key payouts.

You’ll trigger the Pots of Fortune feature by landing the pot of coins scatter in Mega Icon formation. 1 pot is awarded for each symbol position and offers payouts of between 2 and 500 times your stake.

The top feature in Faeries Fortune is the Free Spins feature – land a Mega Icon free spins symbol to trigger it. 1 free spin is awarded for each symbol position. For example, if the massive 4×4 symbol lands, you’ll get 16 free spins. The free spins play out on a new set of reels – reel 1 is a standard 4 row set up. The rest of the reels are made up of giant 4×4 symbols. That includes the wild.

Land a fully formed 4×4 symbol with a matching symbol in reel 1 and some enormous payouts are possible. We won the best part of 200 times our total stake from a single spin following 1 matching combination. Land the Wild fully formed and the payouts can be spectacular. You can re-trigger even more free spins here too.

We found Faeries Fortune to be a medium variance game – you won’t wait ages to land a winner but there are still chances to bag a bumper score. We don’t normally go a bundle on fairy themed slots but this one certainly piqued our interest.

The design is superb (the earworm inducing soundtrack was a little annoying in the bonus round though) and the Mega Icons offer plenty of action. If these impish faeries can sprinkle some magic dust, then fortunes can be won. If you like the theme, Novomatic’s Fairy Queen is recommended.
