Sword of Destiny is a 5 reel, 25 to 50 payline fixed jackpot slot from Bally Technologies that can be played from 50p to £250 per spin on all devices. It’s the first slot using the X-Zone game engine and has an epic fantasy theme – it offers 4 base game features, free spins and a jackpot feature.
Aesthetically, Sword of Destiny looks beautiful as features stunning artwork which really stands out in portrait mode – you will see an evil knight on his throne overseeing proceedings. Symbols on the reels include scrolls, necklaces, gloves, and castles, as well as 3 characters – Sword Lady, Sword Man and Armour Lady. The latter 2 are the most rewarding, giving you 200 coins for 5 across a payline. There’s also a wild which replaces all symbols bar the X-Zone and Bonus symbols – the X-Zone only appears on the 3 middle reels.
In the base game, there are 4 randomly triggered bonus features – when any of them do, the screen expands, which adds 2 more rows and 25 more paylines for that spin. You can then benefit from the following:
- Clumped Wilds feature – 1 to 3 reels are filled with clumped wilds.
- Random Wilds feature – 4 to 9 positions are filled with wilds.
- Group Wilds feature – 4 to 10 adjacent positions are covered with wilds.
- Symbols Upgraded feature – 2 or more of the Flask, Glove, Necklace or Scroll symbols are replaced by either the Sword Man, Sword Lady or Castle symbols for bigger wins.
There is also a Free Games Bonus feature which is played when 3 scattered X-Zone symbols land on the reels – this will give you 8 free spins as well as a 2 times stake prize. During the feature, look out for the X-Zone scatter, as this gives you 1 extra free spin every time it lands. More importantly, each free spin is subject to a multiplier ranging from 2x to 10x.
Finally, you have the Temple Tower Jackpot feature which is accessed when the Bonus symbol appears simultaneously on reels 1, 3 and 5 – you will then come across a ladder with 16 steps. On the ladder, you can win cash prizes as well as 3 fixed jackpots. You then make picks in order to win cash prizes or a jackpot – the higher you make it, the bigger the prize on offer.
Overall, I must say Sword of Destiny looks fantastic – I really like the epic fantasy feel to it. In terms of the bonus features, I like the Clumped Wilds feature and Symbols Upgraded feature, which can lead to big wins. The Free Games Bonus feature is the most rewarding for me due to the potential 10x multiplier on each free spin. The Temple Tower Jackpot feature is also a good addition with the fixed jackpot of 500 times your stake a nice prize to aim for. If you like the fantasy theme, Games Global’s Avalon II or Novomatic’s Kingdom of Legend are recommended.
