Take the well-travelled road to historical China in Celestial King, a 5 reel, 25 payline slot from Bally. This Asian adventure comes with classical design and some interesting extras including free spins, a Celestial King Respin feature and progressive jackpot prizes. Stakes range from between 50p and £80 per spin.
We’ve not always enjoyed the design of Bally’s slots but the visuals here are nicely crafted. You’ll see gold pagodas and blossom trees behind the reels. The lower value playing cards are done Asian-style. You’ll also see lotus flowers, gold coins, a medal and a smiling pig character. The priestess is the best paying standard symbol, offering up to 150 coins per payline.
There’s also a wild that replaces all other symbols. It will get you a 250 coin reward if you land 5 on the same payline. Celestial King comes with a pair of bonus features.
Free Games Bonus feature – this is a pretty standard round that’s triggered when you land 3 scatters on the same spin. On offer are 8 free spins. You can retrigger another round of free spins here too.
Celestial King Respin feature – the second feature becomes active when you land 5 or more scatters on the same spin. Those scatters are held and 3 respins are awarded. The action during the respins takes place on a new reel set. The expanded machine features 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 high reels.
Only scatter and character symbols hit in this round. Scatters come with a value attached – this can be between 1 and 50 times your stake. After the respins are complete, the credit values from all of the scatters are added together and paid out.
Celestial King also offers a chance to win some fixed jackpot prizes. These can trigger in the base game or during the free spins. In the base game, you’ll need to land 5 jackpot wilds. In the respins, you’ll need to fill all of reels 3, 4 and 5 with scatters.
You’ll then have a chance to win the Mini, Minor or Major jackpot if playing at stakes of under £4 per spin. If you’re playing at over £4, you could win the Grand jackpot too – that is a cool 5,000 times stake!
The base game and free spins are pretty ordinary. The respins deliver something a little different though and offer some very decent winning potential. There are already hundreds of Chinese-themed slot on the market. We wouldn’t rate Celestial King as one of the best. It’s a perfectly solid all-rounder though and certainly worth considering if you enjoy the Asian theme. Bally has created better slots in my opinion with Sword of Destiny and Michael Jackson King of Pop recommended.
