The latest slot release to take inspiration from the classic fruit machine is Super Charged 7s. Created by Ainsworth, it’s a 5 reel, 40 payline game that comes with a wheel bonus with multipliers and a retriggerable free spins round. Play on your PC, tablet or mobile from between £1 and £10 per spin.
Glorious design isn’t usually something associated with Ainsworth and Super Charged 7s won’t do much to change that rather dowdy reputation. The design here is functional. On the reels you’ll see $ signs, cherries, and blue, gold and red single, double and treble bars. Any combination of 3 or more bar symbols results in a winning combination being created.
The most rewarding of the standard symbols is the lucky red 7. Land 3, 4 or 5 of them on the same payline and you’ll receive an award of 0.7, 1.2 or 1.6 times your total stake. Potentially far more rewarding is the diamond which is the wild. As usual, it replaces all the standard symbols. It could also get you a payout of 2, 5 or 20 times your stake if you land 3, 4 or 5 of them in concert. Super Charged 7s comes with 2 features.
Wheel feature – this round becomes live if you land 6 or more of the Bonus Wheel symbol anywhere on the reels on the same spin. The Bonus Wheel is made up of cash values. Which one you receive depends on where the pointer lands. Multipliers could be applied to this award too, depending on how many Bonus Wheel symbols you landed to trigger the feature:
- 6 Bonus Wheels = 1x
- 7 Bonus Wheels = 2x
- 8 Bonus Wheels = 3x
- 9 Bonus Wheels = 4x
- 10+ Bonus Wheels = 5x
Free Games feature – land the free spins scatter on reels 1, 3 and 5 on the same spin and you’ll receive 8 free spins. You can re-trigger more free spins (so 16 in total) here as well as a landing the Wheel feature.
We managed to land the Free Games feature regularly enjoying small payouts each time we did. The Wheel feature was much harder to come by. The overall variance is low. Despite the electric theme, we didn’t find much sparkle in Super Charged 7s. The visuals are ordinary, the sound generic and the features pretty standard.
Sadly, there’s not much super charged about Super Charged 7s. There are much better slots out there (most of them actually) – for inspiration, check out our top 10 slots of 2018.
