The sound and visuals in Sherlock’s Casebook are top notch. You’ll see a collection of famous London landmarks shrouded in mist behind the reels. There you’ll find A to J royals as well as a deerstalker hat, a pipe, a violin, a pistol and a magnifying glass. The best standard symbol is the 221B Baker Street sign. Land 3, 4 or 5 of these in combination for a payout of 2, 10 or 40 times your stake. Sherlock is the game’s wild. Every time this symbol appears, it expands and turns the whole of the reel wild.
The woman in the crown and jewels is the scatter. Land 3, 4 or 5 of her anywhere on the reels on the same spin and you’ll trigger the Free Spins feature – you’ll then go on to play 10, 15 or 20 free spins. Joining the action during the feature is Dr Watson which is a second wild.
Whenever the Dr Watson wild lands, it remains locked in position for the free spin that follows. The Sherlock expanding wilds are in play during the feature too. You can’t land an expanding wild on a reel that includes a sticky wild though.
Playing Sherlock’s Casebook doesn’t really tax the grey matter very much. This is a straightforward slot. It still has plenty going for it though. The visuals are excellent and the jaunty backing track fits the theme perfectly. The gameplay is very simple. The expanding wilds, free spins and sticky wilds are a potentially exciting combination though which makes this a very playable slot.
It’s not the most feature-filled slot you’ll play. We liked Sherlock’s Casebook though. It’s easy on the senses and the wild extras make it well worth investigating. Variance wise it’s in the middle with maximum wins of 1,000 times your stake if you fill the reels with 221B Baker Street sign and/or wilds.
